The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300. While attempting to drive the vehicle, the gear shifter failed to shift out of park. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the shifter lockout malfunctioned and the shifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 65,000.
