The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that as he started the vehicle, he was unable to shift from park. The contact was assisted by a personal mechanic who was able to temporarily repair the vehicle by releasing a spring from the gear shifter. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer where the shifter transmission was replaced. The failure and current mileage was 80,800.

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. The contact was unable to shift the vehicle from the park position. The contact was advised by a tow truck company to enable the override switch below the console. The contact reset the over ride switch below the console and was able to move the vehicle from park. The contact experience the failure again and reset the over ride switch below the console again. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the shifter was replaced at the contact's expense. The failure mileage was 116,831 and the current mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300 purchased in 2008. The contact stated that the automatic transmission gear shift selector became stuck in the park position. She was able to start the vehicle; however, she still could not get the gear shift selector to shift gears. She attempted to follow the instructions in the owner's manual to remove it from the park position and was unsuccessful. The vehicle was towed to a nearby automotive service station and the tow truck driver stated that he has had several identical failures for her year, make and model vehicle. The mechanic stated that the shift box was faulty and would cost over $600 to repair. The failure and current mileages were under 89,000.

The contact stated the air bag light flashed on and off intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a certified dealership four times. With diagnostic testing, the problem could not be duplicated. Also, she stated the gear position indicator showed park but the vehicle rolled backwards. No repairs have been made.
