The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. The contacted stated that the gear became stuck in park when trying to reverse. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the lever shifter interlock needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 183,000.
2005 Chrysler 300 was parked in garage over night when we went to start vehicle it started just fine but it would not shift out of park to reverse to get out of garage. This happened on June 18 2011. Come to find out it was a spring that had broke off from a piece of plastic down in the shifter that had broke.
2005 Chrysler 300 won't come out of park - there is a defective part on car and Chrysler I am told is aware of it - there is a pink plastic piece that has a spring to pull out of gear the spring becomes dislodged therefore not able to get out of park gear - had to take off the console in middle and shift assembly to replace the plastic arm which is broke that the spring hooks into
