Purchased used w/41k in Nov. 08, car is driven and maintained normally.
I will list problems in chronological order:
1. PCM (computer went 3-09),
2. Both running board skirts fell off 4 months apart (screws failed),
3. Oil dipstick pull ring broke off leaving dip stick in tube,
4. Turn signal/high-beam/windshield washer handle came out hanging by the wires,
5. Head light switch burned out (lights would go on and off at will),
6. The pink PLASTIC! clip to get the vehicle out of park broke (it was @ 5 degrees outside),
7. L. w/washer port came off in car wash,
cd player motor would not stop running,
9. Had to remove PLASTIC! tray from frame under engine because it warped and rattled annoyingly. It really serves no purpose.
10. L. fog light melted ( flaw in bulb locking hole),
11. Fuel pump went @130,000 (I'll give them a mulligan on that.)
12. Changed oil as per manufactures specs and top end started rattling, tapping and knocking......
[(This was caused by the fuel injectors failing, creating a vacuum in the plenum, sucking in oil and causing the intake port butterflys to stick. It caused the Intake manifold control motors to jam (they are made of PLASTIC!).] This one was a mystery as to cause. I only changed the oil.
I thought that the PCM may be programmed to sabotage the vehicle. It certainly would increase profit on parts and repair work. Would you put it past them?
13. ET AL.....There are a couple of more things but I think you get it.
This vehicle was designed to fail after the warranty expires. Chrysler used too many inferior plastic components intentionally. Certain plastics lose their integrity rapidly, become brittle and fail, especially in motor vehicles considering expansion and contraction. This is the type of plastic they used. They also TRIED to make changing the transmission fluid DEALER ONLY (bring your own vaseline). The dipsticks didn't put in a dipstick.
This vehicle must be well warmed up before moving and driven very gently, you know...like the old man with a hat!
You CANNOT push this vehilce AT ALL or it will fail. It cannot take torque. F&%*$# PLASTIC!
It should be called the Chrysler 300CCP (CHEAP CHINA PLASTIC) of course with some components assembled in chiuaua.
I also have 2 Fords and a GMC Yukon, no problems out of the ordinary.
I repaired all of these things myself using my own home made or modified parts.
I have to admit that the Chrysler 300 looks good but so did the emperor's new clothes.
