Suddenly and without warning, or maybe its been like this for some time - i dont really know because I was first informed of this problem by another motorist in bumper to bumper traffic.
My rear running lights do not work.
Brake lights however do work just fine. But when the lights are on, the rear lights do not illuminate. Ive checked all fuses and scoured the internet for answers. I will be taking it into the Santa Barbara Chrysler dealer tomorrow (which I despise - last time it took them 8.5 hours to complete an oil change)
Update from Sep 1, 2011: Update for anyone who has a similar problem:
The dealership told me the wire running to the rear lights had melted itself to the exhaust. They claim I must have hit something in the road to dislodge the wire, I didn't. To me, it seems like a manufacture defect to run flimsy/unprotected wiring so close to the exhaust without being firmly secured. But try finding a sympathetic ear at Chrysler. In the end, I paid to have a new wire installed. And have since sold the car.
