I took my 200 in for a recall and asked that they check the transmission while it was there. It had been lurching forward upon start. They did a software update and assured me the priblem was fixed. I had it back at the dealership six days later because now it lurches very badly when coming to a stop. It still lurches when I start to accelerate but when braking it is much worse. The dealer said that it shifts normally, on the paperwork anyway. When I spoke to them they say that since it is not throwing a code Chrysler says this shifting is normal. Meanwhile, the service coordinator says her 200 is doingthe same thing and she doesn't blame me fir being upset. They won't change the paper work though. Still says there isn't a problem. I think this is so I don't have a lemon case. The car now has 2200 miles on it and I want rid of it.

Update from Nov 18, 2015: I was told by my case manager to go to a different dealership. I took the car today and was told as soon as I walked in that if there is no light on and no codes then we aren't fixing anything. They offered to let a tech drive with me but reiterated that they won't fix anything.

For the past couple of months, I noticed that when the car downshifts while I press the brake, that is actually accelerates/jerks forward. I know that it accelerates forward because I leave the digital speedometer up and I'm pressing the brake on flat ground, so the car shouldn't speed up. I noticed it the first time when it was happening in city traffic, sub 30mph, when I almost rear ended someone in front of me. I adjusted my driving to counteract this until I could bring it in for all service.

I finally brought the car in yesterday for its normal service and mentioned this issue and one other one. I received a call from the dealership late in the afternoon that they cannot figure out what is wrong with the car and that they had a call out to Chrysler corporate. I appreciate the honesty; however, after reading other people's issues with the same problem, I don't feel confident about them being able to solve the problem. Plus as of right now, I don't have a loaner car, so it kinda stinks; however, I'm inquiring today as to whether they will supply me with one if they believe it will take longer than today.

We were previous Chrysler owners, 2000 Concord and still own a 2005 300. Both cars served us well. Being our first vehicle purchase in 10 years in April 2015 we chose the 200 ....what a mistake! My husband made mention of the car jerking when he drove the car. I told him I noticed it only a little bit. We both came to the conclusion being a new car we needed to have an adjustment period. Okay, we did, but a few thousand miles later the car is still jerking and lunging.

A couple of months later we got a message on the instrument panel to "have air-bag serviced". We made an appointment for this on November 10th. While there we informed the service advisor of the jerking and lunging going on. They informed us with this type of transmission - it would have to "learn our driving habits". They performed updates and sent us on our way. The car was worse than before the update. Drove for a few more days and no improvement

Took it back 2 more times only to be told this is normal operation of this vehicle and there really isn't nothing they could do about it and we would need to keep driving it until the transmission got adjusted to us. What the What?? So you mean to tell me every time someone drives this car..the transmission will need to learn their driving habits??

With no satisfaction we emailed and called Chrysler Customer Service Corporate Office. They responded to quickly to our complaint, but still stood by the their service techs that nothing is wrong with the vehicle and the updates showed the vehicle is operating normally and we need to drive another two-thousand miles for the car to really get adjusted to us. To this day we feel very unsafe driving this car. You never know when the car is going to jerk and lunge when braking and accelerating.

Please do not buy this vehicle! I am sure this is not an isolated problem and that there are many others that have this problem that are not taking the time to report it. At a lost. Next step Lemon Law??

Update from Apr 23, 2016: Well here it is one year later since we purchased this vehicle. Still jerking and lunging. Chrysler Corporate office gave this vehicle a case number and had us go back to our dealership. We got prompt appointment on Feb 1st for this problem. The dealership flagged this vehicle as a Satar case...whatever that means. They kept our vehicle and gave us a rental which happened to be the exact type of car. We had this vehicle for 2 weeks and not once did this car operate like ours! When we got our car back the work order said they performed start procedures and found no change to the shift operations. They replaced valve body and topped off fluid levels and test drove the car. We drove the car home still experienced jerking and lunging. We drove the car for at least 1000 miles and the problem is still there and maybe even worse than before.. We wrote a pleading letter of help to the sales manager, Tim Lambert, at Landmark of Morrow Georgia, and as of today April 23rd have not heard from him. I will be forwarding all of this to Chrysler Corporate office. They know they have a serious problem with this vehicle, and that is why they are going to discontinue making it. There is no joy in driving this vehicle and very unsafe to operate. Will update if and when I hear back from Chrysler. Wish me luck!!

When I go to slow down my car RPM jump up and my car speeds up slightly like from 45 and speeds up to 47-50mph. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times and they say they can not make it do the problem only after driving my car 1 mile on odometer. I have contacted Chrysler and they set another appointment with a dealership who has my car for less than 6 hours and they state that they can not get the car to redo the issue but when I go to pick up the car my mileage has not changed. I am contacting Chrysler again and filing a lemon law in my state to ensure they buy this piece of sh*t back.

Purchased this car in the spring, the car had 100 miles. Although the car is an automatic the car was down shifting hard, mentioned this to service where they stated the car was getting used to my driving. I have driven manual transmissions for many years where the transition between gears was far smoother. This continued until around 10,000 miles when engine light finally came on. Transmission completely failed and was replaced. Since then two recalls have been performed and the down shifting issue has worsened. Again told, car needs to get use to my driving as it is all digital. Drove a 2015 Dodge Journey while car was worked on for a recall, it had 9,000 miles all digital...had zero issues with down shifting. It is completely unacceptable to have payments on a car that clearly should not be on the road. 1st and last Chrysler I will ever own.

I am constantly on edge as a lot of my travel is on the highways with children in the vehicle, safety is a huge concern. Hoping and praying the engine light will come on again to further prove this car is a lemon. This is by far the worst purchase I have made in 25 years. I am completely amazed that this vehicle is considered safe to drive and steps have not been taken for Chrysler to buy back these vehicles.

My transmission surges when downshifting, sometimes really hard causing the car to actually speed up while braking. This caused an accident in rainy weather, someone slammed on their brakes in front of me and my car didn't stop, so I had to make a hard right into someone's yard which caused damage to the underbelly and 8 bottles of laundry detergent to explode all over the trunk. Nobody believes me until they ride in the car with me.

The car is actually getting repaired this week, but now I have an at fault accident on my insurance. I called the dealer and was told they would call me and put me on a waiting list, still haven't heard from them. The car actually scares me at times, especially driving on MI roads in the snow with the trans surging.
