CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2015 Chrysler 200 carries the torch of "never buy the 1st year of a new vehicle generation" with pride.

The 2015 model year is the first year of the Chrysler 200's 2nd generation. It has been plagued by problems from the start. Transmission failure at extremely low mileage, many recalls, problems stalling while driving... the list goes on. Maybe Chrysler should have stuck with the 1st generation.

transmission service, parking brake and check engine light

I was driving the car on business trip and was on interstate 70 about 45 minutes from home. With out warning the car stopped excellerating and the check engine light, check transmission and check emergency brake warning appeared. Pulled over to emergency lane. Transmission knob would on go from park to sport mode. Emergency brake was looked on. I shut the car off and then back on with no changes. Shut car off and called dealer for a tow. After about 15 minutes restarted the car and other than the check engine light. All other warnings were gone. Called dealer and drove the car back to my local dealer. No issues in the return trip . Dealer put me in a loaner and said they needed to upgrade the computer with 2 upgrades and check the car out. Called me about 5-hours later and informed me the uogrades were completed and test drives checked out ok. I'll pick up the car tomorrow. Hopefully one and only issue.

I must add that this is the first time having a problem and unless this becomes an ongoing problem, I really love this car. I guess time will tell if chryslers engineers have a handle on what I think is a poor computer and a complicated transmission. My 2012 200 Touring that had over 90000 miles never saw a service bay other then regular maintenance (oil changes, etc.). 6 speed transmission shifted great and gas mileage was better then the new car. Sometimes less is more.
