CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2015 Chrysler 200 carries the torch of "never buy the 1st year of a new vehicle generation" with pride.
The 2015 model year is the first year of the Chrysler 200's 2nd generation. It has been plagued by problems from the start. Transmission failure at extremely low mileage, many recalls, problems stalling while driving... the list goes on. Maybe Chrysler should have stuck with the 1st generation.

Electrical fire originating in the console while the car was at rest but occupied at a gas station. The fire department extinguished the fire and disconnected the battery to prevent a fire re start. Chrysler denied any responsibility saying that the vehicle left the factory defect free. The car has been declared a total loss as a result of this fire. I don't have a way to scan and upload pictures or documents but I have the fire department report and can provide pictures or any other required documentation.
The vehicle is continuing to have these defaults as shown in pictures I'm experiencing more defaults in this vehicle and that I was told that there is no recall for chrylser cars and that I'm afraid of either getting hurt or someone else getting hurt maybe even killed due to these faulty issues that needs to be checking and that I don't have any kind of warranty on this vehicle.
2015 Chrysler 200 driving the vehicle on multiple occasions, at least 10 to count the vehicle has randomly lost power and the engine fails. At this point I'm terrified to drive the vehicle for which I just purchased three months ago on the highway this vehicle would be a death trap. Furthermore the vehicle passenger side airbag light is illuminated indicating that it will not comply I've called Chrysler end the Chevy dealer for which I purchase the vehicle and they told me there's no recall and it appears that my warranty will not pay for the car to get fixed.
I was on the highway and the car stalled several times. I sat on the side lane and turned the car off for a minute. I started it up again and proceeded to get off the highway the car accelerated less than 20 miles per hour. My daughter and I were terrified before the car stopped suddenly and cars had to break behind us to avoid hitting the car. I had to put the car in park and put my hazard lights on and it took a while for the car to start up again for me to pull on the side of the highway. It has done this more than just this incident. At stop lights and while driving on the street the engine will stall and take a minute to start up again.
Recall on electrical surge issue performed on 4/6/2017; since then my air bag icon and bell goes off and on and power steering icon pops on dash. On 4/18/2017, went to make a left turn and power steering icon came on and dash read "power steering not inactive". pulled the car over shut it down and restarted icon was gone car drove fine.

While driving the car on a city street ~ 30 mph, it dies. Tells me to shift to park and restart. Did this 3 times in a row. Each time I try to restart it sputters and acts like it won't restart. Was able to get to a parking lot less than a block away.
This morning when I was driving with my 2 year old daughter, my car had major failures. While driving on a highway (us-46), the anti-lock brakes failed first, then went the power steering next. Luckily I was able to pull off the road in time before getting crushed by a tractor trailer. Funny thing is, I knew this was coming. I called my local dealership on Wednesday to tell them I suspected my car was going to have the same issues others have had. My car started shaking quite a bit when I was drinking on Tuesday 2/21/17. When you research this for this model, you'll find all sorts of scary stories, like mine today. When I called the dealer's service department I was totally blown off, treated like a moron, and told they could see me on March 7. helpful, right? so I made an appointment at another dealership for tomorrow morning 2/25/17. Alas, I didn't make it. This is a very serious issue. Had I been driving on an interstate, this could have resulted in a major accident. I just hope someone reads this and understands 1. this is not the first person it happened to and 2. this issue is going to kill someone. I escaped with my life today. Others may not.
- on October 25, 2016 the car went into limp mode and 'bucking' as I was driving down the road with my husband and three children in the car. I had the vehicle towed to stew's. I spoke with bob mckeehan and the sales manager, both assured me the car was safe and will be fixed. - October 27th ' 'seems it's an electrical problem rather than a transmission issue' - October 31st ' 'ordered a wiring harness' - November 1st ' 'car ready to go' - all paperwork showed recalls were fixed - January 23rd the car again went into limp mode and begins 'bucking' in the parking lot of my office. There were only 1610 miles put on it from October - January 30th ' picked up the car and was told it was the cam shaft. - February 4th ' the car goes into limp mode with my husband and children in the car - February 6th ' car towed in. Still in the shop. They don't know what to do with it. Car is still at the dealership.

My media center/radio suddenly powers off at any given moment and power on when it wants problem is while my seats are heated I can't turn them off unless the media screen is on. Huge problem. This issue is very annoying. My vehicle is either parked, in motion, or even at a stop light this happens periodically throughout my driving day.
I was driving on road at 38mph, car automatically slowed down and engine was shaking. I was hitting the gas but it wouldn't go faster. I pulled over unto the median. I was afraid of a wreck. I waited 10 mins and drove off but it wouldn't go pass 30 then it shut off. I had flashers on so I wouldn't get hit. It cranked after 3 tries. I finally drove home. When I pulled in driveway temperature went very hot and said, shut engine off temp is hot! the air wouldn't work either. Now my airbag sign is on and says service airbag. Im afraid to drive this vehicle and dealership are two weeks backed up. Please help. This car is unsafe for my family.
