The transmission is the weak point of this car. I used to work at Chrysler and saw how the cars are Dyno tested for many, many miles. When I was driving on the highway for a nice weekend trip out of state there was no hint of failure. There was a sudden huge RPM race because the trans failed in 5th gear going from 65 to 70 and beyond. I tried to restart the car and put a different grade of gas in it, I tried once more to get down the road hitting 80 and the trans failed again, the RPMs hit over red line and I had to pull off the road. This is a very dangerous condition where sudden loss of power could get you rear ended on the highway. I limped home in 4th on the highway and there went my weekend trip.
The car has an abundance of oversteering at launch. The brakes were also crap and I got rid of them and put on EBC slotted and drilled brakes, with their ceramic pads, stick with just drilled if you can, slotted just eats pads. They were night and day over the stock set that almost got me killed several times with just water on the ground because the stock ABS would not hold the car even at minimal speeds and almost ended up in an intersection several times. The brake fluid can overheat with aggressive stopping so watch what you are doing, you can end up with no brake power after 2 hard stops, ie you are chasing someone and slam on the brakes.
I wouldn't put the stock tires on an enemy's car or maybe I would. Again if you want to live, get rid of them after 40k.
