Recently purchased a used Chrysler 200 LX model from CARMAX in Brandywine, MD. Not even 2 weeks into driving the car and it cuts off, did not come back on for another 20 minutes, and when it did start again the radio was inoperable. Then once I started to drive the american made car decided to rev the rpms on it's own and it drove me a total of about 11 miles back to the dealership, all the while speratically stopping and speeding up. Needless to say my fiance and I were glad our 1yr old son wasn't in on this hell ride.
A total of 4 days later, the dealership tells us the issue is a new altenator.
Still waiting to get it back. 5 days later.
We'll see how this goes.
Also going to check with the lemon laws for the states of Maryland and Virginia, any help in that area would be appreciated.
When giving the car gas, the engine gasps/chokes first, then takes off rapidly, only to lose speed rather quickly after still applying gas. Engine chokes when sitting in stop and go traffic, even more when AC is running, but happens equally on the choking/gasping whether AC is on or not. When backing it, at times it seems the transmission is not in gear properly.
When stopped and you take your foot off the brake, before you press on the gas,the car will jump/lunge forward. This has happened several times. We notice that the RPM jump up when this happens. It is extremely dangerous, we have almost been involved in 2 accident because of this problem. Dealership has worked on the car multiple times and is unable to reproduce the problem. Chrysler company will not help. We are now afraid to drive this car so we have a new car Parked in our driveway for 4 months and have no resolution. I have owed a lot of Chrysler vehicles, we are extremely disappointed that they will not make this right. WE will not buy another Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep product.
