200 LX 2.4L, 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 62,300 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Since I bought my car, the gas mileage has been AWFUL. The advertised city/highway mpg is COMPLETELY incorrect. I just had my engine flushed, all fluids replaced, oil changed, and it was verified that I did not have any leaks, bad belts, etc. I filled my car up full (16.9 gallons) and drove 52.5 miles, and it took my gas down 1/4 of a tank. Let me do the math: 1/4 of a 16.9 gallon tank of gas equals 4.225 gallons per quarter of a tank of gas. Now, me using 4.225 gallons to drive 52.5 miles means that I averaged 12.42 miles per gallon. The miles I drove were a well rounded mix of highway and city driving, so my average city/highway mpg is 12.42 miles. They advertise 24 mpg for city/highway driving. On average, a tank of gas lasts me about 225 miles (I drive mostly highway), yet Chrysler says I should be getting 406 miles/tank.

200 Touring 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,128 miles

I bought the 200 chrysler touring 13 months ago to save money on gas at 29.7 mpg , in December the MPG was registering 24.7 MPG. I took my car to the Victorville dealership to have it fixed along with the recall. When I recieved my car back it was still saying 24.7 MPG evidently it was never fixed. I called the dealership back up right away and their answer to me was, it was fixed and that my MPG changes with time. The car is only 13 months old and serviced every other month since I bought it brand new. I told them I'm paying for a car thats suppose to get 29.7 mpg as adveristed and I'm not getting that. Their answer to me was there's nothing they can do about it its the computer and I'll probably only get 24.7 mpg. I want what I'm paying for, thats why I bought this car to save money on gas milage. In December I had to pay to have my rotors turned and the brake pads shaved for $350.00 cause everytime I would back up and apply the brakes it sounded like steal to steal. I actually feel that I'm being taken advantage of do to my age.

200 Limited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,200 miles

The recent victory in small claims claims court against Honda for false mileage advertising prompted this report.

The Chrysler 200 is the first model year in 2011 - but the 3.7L V6 engine has been around awhile. I do not know the length of service of the transmission.

The net/sticker/everywhere advertised mileage is 19 city/29 highway. I allowed for break in, but at over 1,000 miles break in is past.

I routinely get 17 in town, but only 21 on the highway. I am a 40 year experienced driver with many years driving ambulance for patient comfort. I know how to start slow and coast early prior to braking. I have never had my OEM brakes on a new car last less than 100,000 miles as an example, so I would easily dispute any claim I drive the car 'too hard.'

I am surprised that mileage is overstated so much, especially after the EPA reporting changes to 'average' in 2005.
