CarComplaints.com Notes: Since the Chrysler 200 first hit the streets, owners across the U.S. have complained about how their “dream car” quickly turned into a complete nightmare because of how the engine dies suddenly while driving.
The symptom is a ticking noise coming from the engine. Informed by a Chrysler Dealership that the engine needs to have all six cylinder lifters replaced at the cost of $3000 plus (exceeds the value of the vehicle). The cause is purported to be "normal wear and tear". The engine should not need such major work and should be able to exceed 250,000 miles with out what is amount to be a rebuild.
Right now my car is at Bettenhausen Auto Dealership in Orland Park, IL to assess the problem. The mechanic is rulling out the cylinder but now thinks it is the lifters on the engine. My car has 95,000 miles on it and this problem doesn't seem right that I should have this type of engine problem.
I am awaiting the call from Bettenhausen as to the source of the problem and the cost to fix it. I need to know if this is a recurring problem with the 2011 Chrysler 200's and if this issue will be covered under warranty.
The motor started to make the noise shortly after I bought it. I was not sure if it was normal or not. When asked about the issue it was explained that it was normal with Ethanol being mixed with gasoline nowadays. I stupidly believed it because I did not think that my car would be having problems that early. It has now gotten continually worse and worse. This really pisses me off that these manufacturers continue to reap dollar after dollar while I lose my ass. The vehicle has lost considerable worth and has put me upside down considerably! With no re-course but to bitch at some one high up in a luxurious corner office focusing on nothing more than having his thousand dollars shoes spit shined!
Car not even a year old 4 oil changes done timely. Dealer says engine is bad and needs replaced. But there is no one that is trained on how to install this engine since car is so new. I asked for a replacement car. Chrysler wants to just "fix" the issue. May take 3 weeks to a month to try to get a new engine and install. WTH is wrong with this picture. Meanwhile I still have to make payments
