This Chevy Volt experiences transmission's shift-to-park error. This error prevents car from turning off due to not recognizing the shift gear is in the park position. After placing the shift into park and turning the power button off, the car turns back on again and flashes the shift-to-park error message. This apparently is a malfunction of gear shift which has been widely reported on GM-Volt community board on 2nd generation Volts.
A lot of times when i turned off the car "shift to park" message comes on. First time i've noticed this was about few months back. Then, it happened maybe 2-3 times, but now It has been happening constantly. Almost every time i turned off the car.
Sometimes after I have shifted to park and push the power button, an error message displays on the dash reading -??shift to park-?? and the car-??s power will not shut off. This happens frequently. It will usually take multiple tries of shifting to drive and back to park before the car will recognize it.
When attempting to turn off ignition, -??shift to park-?? message appears even though the gear shift is already in park. Unable to power vehicle off. Already had dealer replace gear shift wiring harness when this issue occurred the first time.
