The service airbag indicator and airbag light illuminated on my dash. I took the vehicle to the dealership and was told the passenger presence module needs replaced. Without this repair, all airbags in the vehicle are disabled when the light is on. Yes, its been reproduced by the Chevrolet dealer.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Volt. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, another unknown vehicle crashed into his vehicle which went airborne and over the median. There were no warning lights to illuminate. A police report was not filed. There was no reported fire or air bag deployment. The contact sustained injuries to his neck and back and medical attention was provided. The vehicle was towed to a body shop who informed him the battery was scratched. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where the battery electronic module was damaged due to being dropped. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
The vehicle-??s service airbag warning light is illuminated. The dealership diagnostic indicates that the passenger seat sensor needs to be replaced. Based on my research, this was also an issue with the Volt-??s 1st Gen models.
41000 miles airbag service light on at all times when car is powered on. Passenger airbag light on or off status is totally dark, no indication of status. Does not matter if a passenger is in the seat of not or if the car is moving or not.

My 2017 Chevy Volt gives me 'service airbag' warning all the time. And the dealer says it is not covered under warranty, but the car has never met with any accidents or spills. So there is no reason for customer damage. I see that the same issue was been raised by many under PE19013. So I would want GM to take care of their manufacturing defect rather than saying it is not covered under w
My Volt was T-boned on the passenger side of the car by a red light runner. I had just started to enter into the intersection a second or so after my light turned green, so not going very fast. The other car was going 25-35 mph (approx.). this was on a city street, both one ways streets so that driver was able to build up some momentum. I was pushed into the car to my left (driver's side). The damage was enough to total the car. The air bags were not deployed.
The battery energy control module failed at ~34K miles. This happened when the vehicle was parked and prevented the car from using the batteries for driving. The failure made the car unusable.
When pulling into my garage, the car suddenly accelerated unexpectedly and collided with the front wall of the garage (photo 08); when I shifted to reverse, the car careened out of the garage, across the driveway, and collided with my neighbor's home (photo 09), leaving skid marks (photos 06 & 07) on the garage floor. The car was in normal electric mode at the time. I purchased the car as a certified used car on May 3rd from dave gill Chevrolet in columbus, oh. There were 12,490 miles on the car at purchase and a little less than 14,000 miles as the time of the accident. I am uploading nine (9) photos.
