The contact owned a 2005 Chevrolet Venture. While driving approximately 35 mph in the rain, the vehicle hydroplaned to the left and then back to its lane. The rear tires rolled off the road and caused the vehicle to crash into a ditch. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to a body shop and deemed destroyed by the insurance company. The failure mileage was 130,000.
2005 Chevrolet ventura. Consumer writes in regards to non-deployment of air bags. The consumer stated his father and step-mother were involved in an accident. His father died from his injuries and his step-mother was injured. The consumer stated his father hit a dirt bank head-on and the air bags failed to deploy. As a result, his father hit the steering wheel with his chest causing damage to his lungs, spleen, kidneys and ribs. His step-mother hit the dash and center console with her head, cutting her across the forehead.
The driver was slowing or stopped when she was rear ended. The front driver seat airbag deployed. It is unclear whether the airbag deployed prematurely or whether it deployed after the vehicle was rear ended.
