The battery light came on while I was driving, then the van lost all power and would not crank. I bought a battery and had the alternator checked out, and it was fine. Then the van was fine for a while. After a few months the problem recurred. I had both the alternator and the battery checked AGAIN!!! The alternator was not "putting out" enough, so I replaced it WITH A NEW ONE.
I went to pick the car up and it would not crank so the mechanic kept it another day. He said it was something to do with the "security" (by the way, the security light had not been showing up on the dash and the "change engine oil" light would not go off through this entire ordeal). He by-passed the security and installed a push button to start the car. I went to get the van and it cranked 3 times without a problem, then it would not start. The mechanic said it needed gas, so we put gas in. IT STILL WOULD NOT START!!!! So he charged the battery, and it started. I drove home 5 miles or so, then went to the store 10 miles away. On the way back, the battery light came on, the headlights went out, the dash warnings started showing up...everything from "service engine" to "ABS"!!! By the time I got home IN THE DARK, WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS there was not even enough power to let the windows up!!!!
TWO CYCLES OF THIS AND STILL NO ANSWER.....EXCEPT..."IT HAS TO BE ELECTRICAL"
