Overheating due to fluid eating gaskets. Don't buy Chevy's, why put fluid in that eats the gaskets? I should have stuck with Ford.

I was a chevy fan years back. I got away from them and decided to go back to one and the first one I went to has a gasket problem I just bought it and notice the coolant was low so I took it to the shop to have a oil change and fluids topped. When they got done they gave me some recommendations that's when I found out the coolant was leaking at the manifold bolts coolant sitting around the bolts. Then that's when I found out the coolant dexcool is the problem with aluminum parts. Sounds like a bad engineering problem. Selling ideas that weren't tested good enough for the consumers to pay for their mistakes. When testing stuff it should be under extreme severe conditions. Come on get it right the first time if your gonna call yourself number 1.

My van has been using the anti-freeze. It was disappearing out of the coolant overflow and we could not find where it was going. When the coolant tank would empty, the heat and air would not work and the engine began to overheat. The smell of anti-freeze has been so strong. After reading numerous complaints on the internet, I called GM and they said they had not received many complaints on this problem. I feel that if everyone who has had problems would call or e-mail GM that they may realize they have a serious problem.
