The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Venture. The rear passenger seat belt buckle would not unlock. The passenger was locked in the rear seat belt due to the latch failure. The fire department had to cut the seat belt webbing to release the passenger. The fuel gauge was reading incorrectly. Regardless of the amount of fuel in the vehicle the gauge continuously was reading incorrectly as if the fuel level was full. The current and failure mileage were 132,553.
The gas gauge on the Chevy ventura does not work and this is a consistent problem with the ventura line. Sometimes as little as 15,000 miles and the gas gauge either stays on full ( no matter how many miles you drive) or it stays on empty. Either way, it is a problem that hundreds of buyers have experienced.
Gas guage does not register unless the tank is totally full, then it just drops down to empty whenever it wants. I feel that this is a safety hazard due to ending up with an empty gas tank at any time. The only thing that I can do is try to keep track of my miles. This has also happened to a friend of ours whom also owns the same brand of van.
The gas gauge is not working properly. It will tell incorrect fuel level, usually either completely full or say flat on empty even though we know for a fact that there is gas in it.
