We have had this van since 2003 and bought at a used car dealer in Arizona and drove it to MI. when we moved their in 2005 and drove it back to AZ. when we moved in 2009. It has 138,000. miles on it now and all the sudden a few weeks ago the speedometer goes crazy all over the place, cruise control won't hold more than a few seconds and the transmission jerks up gear and down gear randomly while driving and at times slips into neutral and revs high. We took it to a GM dealer and they had it for 4 days and replaced the vehicle speed sensor and wiring connector, the main PCM computer and the PCV valve and hose due to vacuum leak. After a $675. bill and 4 days later the problem of the slipping transmission / speedometer gauge going crazy is still here. I am not sure what else to do other than keep putting more money into diagnosis of these symptoms. It sounds and feels like it could be a transmission filter that is plugged up. I hope that it could be that simple of a repair, but more than likely it is the transmission to torque converter slip spline that is shearing off. I am not a mechanic but I was told by the dealer service tech that they have had transmissions go out around this mileage point. So we will see what to do next. I really hope we don't have to sell the van because it really has served us well during the last 6 or so years in both the desert and winter climates.
