GM has a bad EGR system in the 05 Uplander van and the fix is to use a newer replacement kit, replace and rewire the wiring harness and reflash the computer for $800. The original EGR valve is no longer made and a usable salvage one is unlikely. So the new GM makes you deal with the Customer Experience Manager at the dealership if your car is out of warranty and has an unusual repair.
Although our Uplander has been reliable, this kind of expense because of a known design flaw is just awful. Chevy has been covering up years of customer neglect and safety issues and the ignition recall is tangible evidence. Did they learn this from Toileta or did they teach it to them?
