Actually this is the second damn time this thing went off. I do not remember the date when it first began, not too long ago. The alarm went off for no reason. Lights flashing, horn blaring, of course in the middle of the night. Four times, 20 minutes apart until I decided that the only thing I could do was pull the fuse on the horn. It tried again a couple more times, then stopped doing it. Today, it started this thing when the alarm would go off (known because the lights were flashing) for less than a minute, then stop for less than a minute, then do it again, then stop altogether for a while, and do it again. The doors were never locked in any of these incidents and the key was not in the ignition. The panic button on the fob was not pressed because left the keys in the car.
I have contacted GM and they told me there were no recalls and that if I wanted it fixed the cost was on me. I have done a bit of searching and found that I am not the only person with this problem. There are a lot more than I would have figured. Since the alarm is a built-in component it will cost plenty that I do not have to fix it. Since it is a problem that many others are having or have had, I think it should be a repair paid for by GM, since it appears to be a manufactured problem. I am driving without a horn, now, because of this which makes it a safety issue, as well. GM has certainly gone down the tubes in recent years. I hope someone can give me an idea on how to disable the alarm so I can put the fuse back in my horn.
