While driving down the interstate my Uplander shuts off for no reason or warning. No check engine lights come on. I had onstar run a test and nothing is found.
Several times since purchasing my 2005 Chevy Uplander, the ignition has just shut off. Normally this was when idoling so I wasn't too sure. However, it just turned off when I was driving 65 mph on a major expressway in Chicago. This could have been catastrophic. This ignition switch is the same one that is currently in the GM recall, yet it has not been recalled yet. Please recall all vehicles with this ignition switch as most vehicles have already been recalled. Why wait on the recall until more people are in accidents and possibly die? it isn't worth the risk.
While driving down the road at 40 mph in my Chevy 2005 Uplander van the passenger rear door opens and a continuous alarm sounds. (this door was next to my 22 month-old). Previously the door would open while in park. The door has been found open in parking lots in town and in our garage. Our door on several occasions has attempted to shut, but would not, then it alarms and opens back up. We have tried to manually shut the door but it would not shut either. The door also tries to shut with people in the way. My daughter went back to the van to get a toy and got her toy while I was blocking the door. The door pushed hard against me trying to close, it almost shut me in the door. The door would not reopen like it is supposed to with something being in the way. If that had been my daughter it would have shut her in the door, probably killing her. The van has been at a dealer atleast three times. Each time the problem was not fixed. The problem was blamed on dirt on the contact, so the contact was cleaned. The next time the computer was blamed. This last time a switch is being replaced. I am terrified to let my kids ride in this van because I fear for their safety. Please help.
My Uplander van pops, grinds and has a jerking motion. Then the service stability system light comes on and the traction control off light comes on. This has happened 4 times. The dealer has replaced the ebcm system twice and has re-tested it. Last night (11-12-06) it failed again. My headlights also strobe. They go dim and bright. I've asked for repairs on this several times and it has not been resolved.
The doors both voluntarily & involuntarily open/close. They may open while going down the road. They will also open when not prompted in the middle of the night, when everyone is asleep. They also will not close on some occasions. They start to close, then give a warning bell & re-open. We bought this vehicle because I have a 24 yr. Old son with cerebral palsy. I cannot, in good concience, put him in this vehicle..due to the major safety issues. Would you put your child in this vehicle & wonder whether the doors would decide to come open while going 75 down the interstate?
