Trax LT 1.4L 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 41,000 miles

A few months after I bought the car new, the AC/Heater fan quit working on the highest speed (4). I took it in and the dealership had a computer problem and was unable to fix the issue, it was winter in AZ so i could get by without it for a while, I ended up taking it back to the dealership on my next oil change and they told me that the blower resister had went bad and the wiring was melted. Under warranty, lets fix it and go on about our day.

Well here we are a couple months later and the AC/Heater fan quit working on all speeds. I take it in and low and behold, the blower resister is bad and it melted the wiring, both will need replacing. When speaking to my service adviser, I asked, why is this going bad with only 41000 miles, and he tells me it is designed to go out. Now I understand parts that wear out and need to be replaced, but most don't melt the wiring. He said that the problem is caused by not having a way to keep the resistor cool enough. It seems that it is certainly a design flaw!

I cannot afford paying $300 every few months because Chevy cannot figure out how to keep a resistor cool. How long until it melts something else or catches fire. I do not feel safe in a car that melt wires. I bought this Chevy after my son bought a Sonic, I will not buy another Chevy.

Trax LT 4 cyl. Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,050 miles

After having the same problem happen twice and going back to the dealer and being told that they could find nothing wrong, I contacted Chev. directly. Guess what'? Same answer, same runaround. They never heard of this happening to another Trax AC unit. They should have seen the water under the car when the ice melted. The second time it happened, we were not able to stop so I just shut everything off. As the ice melted it blew up on the windshield. My wife thought it was raining. Does anyone else have this problem or a solution? We bought the car to travel, but are not confident enough to trust it. If I don't get an answer from Chev. my next step is the Better Business Bureau or maybe the States Attorney General.

A/C unit frost up vents and windows inside

Brought into the dealership and they told me that was normal. I would think windows with FROST in the summer blocking my driving view would be a cause for concern since no car I have ever had in 23 years has ever done that unless their was a coolant leak. There answer was not sure what is wrong no one else has complained.
