The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving at 5 MPH and turning into a parking spot, the steering wheel inadvertently lost power steering assist functionality. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated she was able to forcefully steer the steering wheel with the assistance of her son and the vehicle was parked. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that they would be able to diagnose the vehicle in the next 3 weeks. The contact also stated that she noticed that the steering wheel would regain power steering functionality while the accelerator pedal was depressed and would lose power steering functionality after releasing the accelerator pedal. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.
