This appears to be a common problem for the 2014 Traverse. If you read the others experiences, mine is the same, ditto that. First happened at 29,000, not resolved. Continued to happen. I took car to dealer at 44,500 and they did a fluid flush and again found no problem. This is a certified used Traverse purchased at 20,000. So I called GM customer service center and started a record as to how we can fix the problem. I have read that the transmission has failed at just over 100,000 for some owners. So stay tuned. I am waiting to hear back. Let me just say that all the LTZ AWD options work well, the GPM never hits what GM claims. Has anyone had this fixed by GM?

Second time we have had the same problem with the transmission jerking and slipping out of gear when accelerating. It was repaired two years ago but the transmission started jerking several months ago yet again. A week ago we were entering a very busy interstate when the transmission wouldn't engage and almost caused a fatal accident for my family.

The Chevrolet service department couldn't get the transmission to slip so they wouldn't fix the car. It is one of those things that doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it could possibly cost you your life. We will not buy another Traverse. We just keep having the same problem!

The transmission jerked and slips out of gear. Valmark Chev service department took a week to diagnose the problem because it doesn't always happen. They had my car 10 days. It only lasted 18 months before the problems returned. Same thing same problem.. Took it back they had it a week and wouldn't repair the problem because they said the transmission wouldn't do anything wrong for the mechanic. I took the service guy for a ride and the transmission jerked but they said they still couldn't fix the car. The day before we took the car to the dealership, the transmission did not kick in when we accelerated getting on the interstate. This incident was almost fatal but yet our dealership won't and can't repair my car.

My issue is the same as other users. It happens a lot and if I reported all of the times then I would be here a lot. I didn't know this site existed until today so from now on I will keep better track and report back. Our shifting hard happens usually between 25-30 km per hour. Super frustrating because it catches me off guard and I've started to hate driving at that speed because I'm afraid of it happening and scaring the crap out of me and my passengers.

Traverse LT 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 200 miles

We purchased our 2014 Traverse brand new from the dealership. From day one, I noticed the take off was rough. I assumed it was just me or that the new car took some getting used to driving. None the less, the traction light came on. I took the truck in for an oil change, told the guy about it, he checked it out didn't find anything wrong. My husband took it in again today, still they say nothing.

Traverse LS 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,294 miles

We owned a 14 year old Dodge Caravan, it died, and we were on the hunt for a new vehicle. We have a large family so we needed something that sat at least eight. We looked at the Traverse and found it to be the vehicle that would suit our family. We purchased it from Bobby Murray Chevrolet in Raleigh, NC. Jim, our salesman was absolutely wonderful.

When my first oil change came due at 5000 miles, I took the vehicle in to be serviced. I told them that the transmission did not appear to functioning properly. It jerks a lot when shifting into gears. They checked the transmission fluid, codes, etc. and tell me everything is fine. It is now time for oil change number 2. I express the same concerns, only this time it does it more frequently. The mechanic tells me that the transmission is just learning the way that I drive the car. He said it usually takes about 15,000 miles for the transmission to learn the way someone drives it. I tell them that it drives like my 14 yr old van use to drive. I buy a brand new car and it drives like it has 100,000 miles on it and like it is 10 years old! I have expressed the very same complaints to them at oil change #3 and #4.

I now have 25,000 miles on it, not quite a year old and the transmission keeps getting worse! You drive slow, and the transmission revs and will not shift into the next gear. Or you do a rolling stop and jerks really hard, as if the engine falls out/drops. This is not normal. I would expect this out of a vehicle that has at least 80,000 miles on it. My old van had 140,000 on it before the transmission blew. We bought a brand new car so I would feel safe driving it around with our six children. Now I constantly worry about the transmission going out!.

There are other issues as well. I'm filing another complaint!

Traverse LS 3.6L V6

the transmission is jerking when it changes gears

I purchased this vehicle new from my sales person (Anthony) at Rick Hendricks Chevrolet 4490 s lee street, Buford GA, on my very first oil change (which took six hours) I requested that they look at my transmission because it was jerking when changing gears. After six hours of waiting, they told me they could not duplicate the issue. My brother is a Master mechanic, my ex-husband is a mechanic and my current husband is a mechanic, so I am not crazy, my husband experienced what the car was doing, so on the second oil change I expressed my concern about the transmission again, this time it only took five hours, the Rick Hendricks Rep told me that my vehicle was simply learning the way that I drive and over time I will not feel the transmission jerk into gear, he handed me a paper (that I still have) relating to the information he was referring to and in the same breathe he offered me to pay more money for an extended warranty. Okay, I just paid you $40K for a brand new vehicle, I am not getting what I paid for already and you want me to pay more???? Well guess what, the problem has NOT stopped, it is doing to more often, my husband is furious and am I, he is a mechanic and is should NOT be jerking into gear and it is doing it pretty hard. I have been wronged and I want someone to wright this wrong. I don't even have 20K miles yet! And there are more issues with this vehicle, so I will be filing another complaint!
