After receiving the recall information that the airbag deploy throwing shrapnel through the cabin, we contacted GM to discover that no replacement is currently available. We asked for a rental car since our current vehicle is potentially lethal for my wife and children. They were unwilling to provide that. we now have a vehicle that is potentially deadly that we have no remedy for and no solution for transporting our family safely
Chevrolet recalled the airbag in my 2014 Chevrolet Traverse in May due to faulty mechanisms that may release shards of metal during airbag deployment: Takata airbag inflators. After multiple phone calls to both my local Chevrolet dealer and corporate, noone is able to assist me with this matter. The replacement part is unavailable, and they cannot say when it will be available. They are offering no remedy in the interim, e.g. no rental car, etc. I also inquired about the order in which owners would be eligible for replacement when the part is ready, and no information was available. In my last phone call to Chevrolet Customer Service, I was read a statement in which they claimed that customer safety was their first concern, however, it has been three months since the recall and my family is still at risk of serious injury/ death driving in our vehicle.

I received the notification of faulty airbags from my insurance company. GM has yet to inform me of this recall. I have contacted multiple dealerships about this problem. They would not even do an inspection. I also contacted GM about this recall since it could result in death and I travel about a rental or a push to get the airbags replaced since they know the driver airbag modular has to be replaced. They have refused to contact me or move forward fixing this problem. They have yet to send a letter or email to notify me of the recall in the first place. Thank goodness my insurance company knows how to communicate important information. GM knows how to fix the problem but they are not nor are they helping us who have concerns.
