Bought used for $9, 500 less than a year ago March 2023. Car lost power while driving and would jerk forward suddenly, pressing gas wouldn't accelerate. Died at stop lights and in intersections. Unsafe to drive. $400 inspection estimated two failed computers- ECM and TCM. Transmission shop would replace for $5200. Getting rid of this undriveable car right away.
The engine seems to lose power every once in a while. I replaced the timing chains recently along with all of the spark plugs, water pump, valve cover gaskets, cam shaft position sensors & solenoids, pcv valves for both banks, & the crank shaft position sensor. I tested all of the coils. All were good. I've read this could be an electrical control module or something similar but haven't brought it in yet. I have a friend who is a renowned mechanic and he hasn't figured it out yet but also hasn't had any contact with the vehicle besides over the phone trouble shooting. I haven't found any definable solutions on the web.
I have 2012 Chevy Traverse that I absolutely loved. Until now... my Traverse sputters, looses engine power and throws throws out black smoke from the tail pipe. We have kept our SUV maintenance regularly we changed the spark plugs, we have changed the coils, we've cleaned where the oil lifts up in to the spark plugs. I am so upset because I really got this car because Chevy says they are #1 but have yet to issue a recall.
While operating the vehicle, "reduce engine power" and "stabilitrak" suddenly appeared on the instrument panel. Next, the vehicle decelerated and failed to accelerate properly. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. Serra Chevrolet of Southfield, MI and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 85,000.The cost to fix was quoted at $4,500.00
On 9/28/2018 while completing a trip from Hilton Head, SC to Naples FL (less than 2 miles from home) the Traction control/stabilitrak and Engine power reduced lights illuminated along with the "Engine" light. Thankfully, I had just exited the freeway and was at a stoplight when the "Engine Reduced Power" truly reduced the engine power to virtually nothing. I traveled a mile at reduced power with both dashboard light warnings flashing alternately. Then, without warning, the vehicle began to operate as though nothing had happened, but the "Engine" light remained on.
This morning the "Engine" light remains on while the vehicle operates normally. This problem is happening all too often to too many Traverse owners and requires GM to step up to the complaints and issue a recall. I don't know what the repair is going to be or what it may cost, but I am fearful it won't be cheap!

It is big mess, Chevrolet I am very disappointed with your truck. I got this Traverse with 60000 miles. It has now 126000 and already has time chain problems. I guess they built this truck to break down. Do not buy Chevy cars, they are trash. This is last GMC car that I buy!

last night Christmas day!! apparently this is common in these cars. why didnt the dealer say anything, why hasnt chevy done anything.....498 to 500.00 in repairs is bullshit..................
