CarComplaints.com Notes: There are a fair-number of power steering related complaints which is a continuation of problems from the previous model year. Considering the problem tends to happen beyond the standard warranty (73k+) it's best to avoid this vehicle or at least be prepared for the $1,300+ repair.

I bought this 2011 chevy traverse in july 2011 and began having issues with the middle seatbelt in the middle row of seating only working when it feels like it. When you try to pull it out it won't come out and you have to mess with it...most of the time I'm not able to get it to work and I use all 8 seats often because I watch other children. When I took the vehicle in I was told it would cost over $100 just to look at it and they could replace it if needed. IU have also called GM and they are not willing to stand behind the product and replace it for me. This is a safety hazard. We have no idea how it will perform in an accident even if replaced. All I am asking for is the company to look further into this and find out what the problem is because clearly we aren't the only one and fix it. My mother-in-law recently bought same year traverse and automatically started having the same issue.
Update from Feb 18, 2015: I called GM for the second time and they called the dealer for me, so I didn't have to pay the diagnostic fee and the dealer called me back to schedule an appt. They messed with the seatbelt and read complaints online. They found that when you lay the seat all the way down and the head rest pops forward it releases the seatbelt. They reported their findings to GM. GM said they haven't had a lot of complaints. I suggests that everyone who has this issue call GM so they fix the problem. The dealership said they filed a report with GM and if other dealerships do the same it will help GM get on the ball to fix this issue.
