CarComplaints.com Notes: There are a fair-number of power steering related complaints which is a continuation of problems from the previous model year. Considering the problem tends to happen beyond the standard warranty (73k+) it's best to avoid this vehicle or at least be prepared for the $1,300+ repair.

I had contacted Chevy Corporate on the steering issue on my car while it was still under warranty. Needless to say there were no help. I went to the dealership many times because of the steering alone. Since then I have other issues with my 2011 Traverse. Now the car shuts while driving! It sounds like a lot of GM owners of different vehicles are having the same issue! I guess there will not be a recall until someone dies over this!
Some of the issues include rack and pinion going up, steering issues, leaking from the steering column, 3 times the ac actuator has gone up, issues with the lift gate failing, life gate one time injured my father-in-law!, timing chain failing prematurely, and now the stabilitrak and traction control is going off. The vehicle shuts up while driving! My wife got stuck on a bridge and was put in danger due to this. Now the Traverse sits in the driveway.
OK, my boyfriend and I were driving home from VA to MD on 95 North.11/16/2015 Traveling 70 MPH (at speed limit), all of sudden the light flashed on just as I was pulling over the emergency road, the car shut off completely on the highway. Thank goodness there were no cars or trucks near me. Call the dealership and said the cost is $2,500 and not covered under warranty. Not sure why this electric problem is not included in the warranty when the manufacturer warranty is five years or 100k. Which the car has not exceeded in either five years nor the 100k.
On 12/4/2015 my nephews and I were leaving my parents home ,running some errands, the car traction light came on. then the car shut off while driving. I phoned another dealership about this problem again. This dealership informed that this is a recall issue and warranty issue but the Chevrolet is not acknowledging the issue, the recall nor the warranty, and that many consumers have complained and tried have the car repaired but its costing $2,500. This is unacceptable. Chevrolet needs to repair the cost especially if this issue falls under a recall that Chevrolet is aware of this matter but refuse to repair the problem or acknowledge it. and the warranty is still in place. So, my guess this is a concern/ legal suite.
We've had nothing but problems out of the AC in our 2011 Traverse but this takes the cake. Driving down the road and turn on the AC and the engine dies. Just comletely shuts everything down in the middle of the road. If we had been on a main road and not a side street this would have been VERY bad
My 2011 Chevy Traverse, while driving, loses power and the traction control turns off. The warning check traction controls stability of car! This is very dangerous especially while driving on the highway! It's $350.00 to fix this problem, and the valves need to be done on the motor, at 79,000 miles! I don't understand why this isn't a recall!
The total bill will be $900.00! This is ridiculous for a car with under 100,000 miles!
