CarComplaints.com Notes: There are a fair-number of power steering related complaints which is a continuation of problems from the previous model year. Considering the problem tends to happen beyond the standard warranty (73k+) it's best to avoid this vehicle or at least be prepared for the $1,300+ repair.

I am a long time Chevy customer and have been happy with my past cars. I purchased a new 2011 Chevy Traverse 3 weeks ago. When I picked up the car, I noticed that the design of the head rest pushes my head forward. After driving for a week, my neck and back ached. Throughout the week I adjusted the seat & headrest, but was not able to find a comfortable position. I ended up turning the headrest around which makes it more comfortable, but isn't the best solution as there is a greater possibility of whiplass if rearended.
I registered a complaint through the Chevy website and did receive a prompt (but not very satisfactory) response. The dealership is also investigating solutions. A search on the internet shows that I am not the only dissatisfied customer. The GM customer service response is that this isn't considered a defect and that the headrest was designed to work with the airbags for safety. My response: the safety engineer who designed it, didn't spend much time driving with it! In my opinion, the health and safety issues resulting from chronic neck and back pain from this poorly designed headrest need to be corrected!
