We've had to replaced all sensors, crank shaft, o2, cam shaft, etc and still no solution. We have taken this vehicle to three mechanics and all three have done the same thing to it, changing out all sensors as they are trying to bemeticulous. To date, we have no solution and the car keeps spitting out codes. This is the worst vehicle we have ever owned. If youre in the market, stay away from Chevy. They don't stand behind their vehicles and are NOT worth the time, money, or trouble you will experience. Sadly, they are American made. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING CHEVEROLET!!!

I'm surprised by GM on the Timing chain issues with the 2010 traverse, looking through the various boards and such I see a large number of complaints about the 2010 traverse and the timing chain. sure all cars have their problems, but GM was aware of this issue and repairs it under an special extended warranty for other model years but it seams that the 2010 is excluded from that list. $3000 is a lot for a single repair and nearly 2000 of that was labor. GM needs to fix this issue...

This is really annoying, I never know when the car will stop in then middle of the road and I am stuck out on the highway. I just purchased this vehicle one day ago and the check engine light is on and will not go out. The one I traded in yesterday was doing the exact same thing, that is why I traded it for another one. The dealer tells me this is a factory defect.

Engine light keeps coming on and off. Went to Auto Zone to read the codes and received P00004 and P000017. Brought the truck to a Chevy dealer which is now telling me it is the timing chain which could cost upwards of $3K. As I read about this vehicle I see there are many complaints regarding the timing chains on GM products. There needs to be a recall and a new design. This is the first and probably the last GM product I ever buy unless GM steps up and makes this right.

Check-engine malfunction indicator light came on; vehicle rides rough and stalls occasionally; poor engine performance. Took vehicle to STS Tire & Auto Bordentown NJ. Two codes were noted: P0011 and P0024 - Camshaft position (timing over-advanced or system performance issue). Should be covered under Powertrain warranty.

Update from May 5, 2015 - Michelle, Burlington Chevy, stated that my Power Train warranty expired on 4/23/2015 and that they will charge $110 plus tax for a diagnostic. I'm a bit surprised as I purchased the vehicle "used" on June 4, 2011 (26,458 miles). I was under the impression that my warranty was good for 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. My vehicle has 92,504 miles and it hasn't been 5 years since I purchased the vehicle, unless it's 5 years from the date it was originally sold "new". Right now, the light has turned off and the engine no longer stalls. I believe the SUV is fine. Hopefully I won't have anymore problems.

Update from Dec 24, 2015: On 12/24/25 - Vehicle continues to run rough, was sluggish, and the check engine light would come on occasionally. Dealership, Burlington Chevrolet, ran a diagnostic and there were some failed codes (p0011 and p008), all related to the camshaft and timing chains. To repair, it would cost about $2,700 since I was six months over the powertrain warranty. They contacted GM and they stated that it would cost me $681 plus tax since I was a good customer. I agreed to have the repairs completed which also included replacing the waterpump which was leaking. I have read online that timing chain problems have occurred more frequently on 2007-2010 CHEVY Traverse, Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave. All of these SUV’s have the 3.6 liter V6 ENGINE with dual overhead cams. What is happening on these vehicles is that the timing chains are stretching which leads to correlation errors with the cam sensors and actuators. After 2010, General Motors has seemed to correct the PROBLEM with updated chains and ECM calibrations.

Dealer replaced timing chain at no charge under drive train warranty. Fortunately the dealer has an excellent service department.

Husband first noticed the check engine light and stability light on (this was sometime in December 2013) but the next time he started the car, they were both off. However, the past week (February 3, 2014) I drove the Traverse to work all week and the engine light came on and stayed on. Brought it in to the dealer today, found that this was due to the timing belt, guides, and gears, and that it would be in the shop all week.

I was given a loaner car and did a little research into this problem. Found that this was a problem mainly with Traverses from 2009 or older, however that being said, it may also be an issue with some 2010 models. Yeah, it's a pain, but the Chevy dealership I went to are super nice and helpful and that definitely helps lessen the aggravation. This is covered by the power train warranty, but I am definitely glad we went ahead and invested in the major guard that GM offered.

2010 traverse started using oil around 60,000 miles. Check engine light came on and took to have hooked up for diagnostics. First thing to chevk from the code was the oil level. My vehicle was 3 quarts low on oil. My oil leel light never came on. my oil is changed every 5,000 miles.... Had to take back to the dealer every 1,000 miles for quite some time to monitor oil level....5,000 miles later they realizes there was definitely an issue.. Ran dye through the engine and i am currently getting rings and pistons changed in my car... No way should this happen at 60,000 miles.... Gm will not replace complete engine until we try this first by the time it happens gain will probably be out of warranty!!! They will not give me anything in writing stating it will be covered if happens again after the warranty runs out.... Very displeases with GM
