CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2002-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer is known for many things, but perhaps it is most famous for its faulty fuel gauge.
This gauge flip-flops more than a politician during election season. Some report that the gauge says "empty" after a fill-up, while others report the gauge says "full" when they're running on fumes. Either way, there's one thing everyone seems to agree on: the darn thing is just wrong.
Following hundreds of complaints and a few accidents allegedly caused by the malfunction, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened an investigation into the issue in May 2011. Unfortunately for frustrated owners, no recall has been announced.
My 2005 Trailblazer has been a problem since day one. It has 194,00 miles on it today but at 79,000 all Gauges except the Oil and Water quit working, at 100,000 another issue which cost $1,000 but forgot what it was, at 129,000 miles the Engine failed and had to be replaced, at 158,000 miles the Water Pump went out had to be replaced and now at 194,000 the Transmission is going out and finally needs new Brakes which have never been replaced (brakes are the only good thing on this Trailblazer).
This is just great, not only is the fuel gauge not working, but now the beast has no power to go along with it, horra'y family, your vehicle is a lemon. I can't wait to get rid of this thing. Just for information it sounds like all the cylinders aren't firering, however it is not skipping or anything like that, just has a very low exhaust tone. I am checking to make sure its not bad gas or something like that, but I have a feeling it has something to do with the fuel pump/filter/gauge assembly in the tank.
