CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2002-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer is known for many things, but perhaps it is most famous for its faulty fuel gauge.
This gauge flip-flops more than a politician during election season. Some report that the gauge says "empty" after a fill-up, while others report the gauge says "full" when they're running on fumes. Either way, there's one thing everyone seems to agree on: the darn thing is just wrong.
Following hundreds of complaints and a few accidents allegedly caused by the malfunction, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened an investigation into the issue in May 2011. Unfortunately for frustrated owners, no recall has been announced.
I was working in traveling sales when my husband went to warm up the car and it would not start. We had the tow truck come and pick it up he said the fuel pump was bad and we had to replace it. Over 500.00 later it got fixed and I had to quit my job ... lots of fun.
Car randomly overheated, towed it in... water pump was out. Had repaired but car continued to heat up at idle. Next told the fan clutch was also out, in addition to the fuel level sensor. At this point my 2005 trailblazer with 70,000 miles had a list of $1,700.00 worth of repairs needed and at 4 years old was only worth $10,000 trade in. Bought new for $30,000. Chevy needs to stop allowing the unions to have a stranglehold on them and stop cutting corners on the cars.
