My 2004 Trailblazer kicked into full speed while I was traveling in an icy road at 20 mph. It automatically switched to 4 wheel drive, spun at a 90 deg. Went into a deep ditch, spun back straight and headed up the ditch, again full speed, into a culvert and totaled the vehicle. Both air bag sensors were knocked off the vehicle and neither one opened. I was not injured. Shook up a little. Traveling alone and coming home from church on a Sunday morning at noon.

On January 25, 2010, the "check engine" light came on. I took my car in to the dealer on January 28. They said there was a crack where the filler tube attaches to the fuel tank, and the entire tank/filler tube assy would have to be replaced, at a cost of over $1300. Three mechanics at the dealership told me this is a very common failure, they have seen it many times. They said I could look for a used tank to save money on the repair, but they did not recommend it because "all those tanks fail." I did some checking on line and found that this is indeed a common failure. I called the GM consumer help line and asked for some help on the repair cost, since this is apparently a design flaw and a common failure. The assigned me service request, but a few days later called back and said that GM would not help out on the repair cost. My car is a 2004 Trailblazer with 67,500 miles, and thus out of warranty, but I believe GM should still be at least partially responsible for a common failure.

2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer lt leaking gas & fumes where filler neck joins tank. Have learned online that there are many people having the same problem. Dealer and GM will do nothing to help me pay for the repairs. I paid $1350 to have a new gas tank installed. This must be a defect. I had my vehicle checked several times for the service engine soon light in the past. One occasion was the fuel cap and on another they could find no code. This should be covered. They know they have a problem. My extended warranty ran out 26 days before this happened. Thank you

2004 Chevy Trailblazer leaking gasoline from the fuel line. Gasoline is leaking out of tank constantly all over the garage and anywhere the car is driven. Huge fire or explosion hazard. Same problem as special code 07099 and tsb #05012 where extended warranty was issued on ext models only.

The service engine light on our Chevy 2004 Trailblazer ls came on. Took the vehicle to our mechanic who said there is a small crack in the fuel tank. I drove the vehicle out of town to a mechanic we highly trust explained the problem and were advised to take the vehicle to the dealership because he believed there was a special warranty in place for emissions problems. While at the dealership they confirmed there is a fuel tank inlet check valve fracture and should be covered under the special coverage adjustment #07099A. At the end of the day I was told my particular vehicle could not be covered because of the break in the VIN number. I then contacted GM personally and talked to a specialist who said she would have to look into it. She got back to me and basically said there is nothing GM can do because the warranty only covers the ext model, even though this is obviously a factory defect and a safety hazard! I was told my vehicle would be used for future evidence that this seems to be occurring in our particular model "Trailblazer ls". so we are left with a cracked fuel tank that GM refuses to take care of.

I have a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer ls that seems to have a very strong gas odor in the cabin and also drips gas underneath the gas tank. I heard that there was recall due to fuel odors in the cabin of the vehicle and drops of gasoline on the ground from the fuel tank inlet valve. My 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer 4WD has 41,000 miles on the odometer. Recently the service engine soon (ses) light became illuminated. Personal inspection of the vehicle revealed a small crack in the plastic fuel tank. The crack was located at the "weld" or joint where the plastic fuel fill pipe connects to the tank. This fill pipe also houses the fuel tank inlet check valve (icv). As my vehicle was past the three-year - 36,000 mile warranty period I attempted to glue the leaking crack. This held for a few weeks, the ses light went out and there was no odor or appearance of gasoline leaking from the area. Eventually, though, the leak returned, evidenced by the ses light illumination and gasoline leaking from the repaired area. Another repair attempt was made and is currently under observation. This exact problem appears to be detailed in General Motors document id# 1985459; subject: Special coverage adjustment - fuel tank inlet check valve fracture #07099 - (06/07/2007). This referenced document only pertains to 2002-2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext and GMC Envoy XL, both longer wheelbase models than my standard ls model. Upon my discovery of this manufacturer known problem with this vehicle model, I took my Trailblazer to the local Chevrolet dealer today. The service consultant said he was not familiar with my problem and was unable to access the computer database for any relevant documents for my vehicle. He did take a copy of the above referenced special coverage adjustment document and promised a return call tomorrow.

Hello I am writing concerning my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. When I first bought this vehicle the gauges all messed up and it would say I was going 90 when I wasn't moving at all. Now, the dealer went ahead and fixed that for me, but now the gas gauge is screwing up, it will say I have more gas then I have, it's been doing this for about 2 months now, and I've ran out of gas three times with my babies in the car. I did some research and there are alot of complaints about the exact same thing. When is this going to be recalled" how many complaints does it take" this is very dangerous, I have to drive 1000 miles soon, my husband is deployed now to iraq and I am suppose to go to visit family and I'm scared to do that in this vehicle and its all I have.

My complaint is regarding a potential incident. I own a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. I bought this new in 2004. Within 3 months, I smelled gas from inside the truck. Then noticed when I fill the tank, it leaks out of the top. I brought this to GM attention and they said there is no recall and that I would be responsible 100%. could cost up to 1000. The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact smelled a strong odor of gasoline coming from the vehicle. In addition, the engine warning indicator illuminated sporadically on the instrument control panel. She took her vehicle to the dealer and they stated that fuel vapors were leaking and collecting on top of the module. The failure caused fuel to spill onto the ground. The contact would have to pay $1,300 to have the vehicle repaired because it was not registered in a salt belt state. Secondly, she noticed that the gauges on the instrument panel were inoperative and displayed inaccurate information. The dealer stated that the VIN was not included in the manufacturer's recall for the instrument control panel; therefore, she would have to pay $550 to repair the component. Currently, no repairs have been made. The failure mileage was 66,000 and current mileage is 73,000. Updated 3/11/09 updated 03/13/09.

I have a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer lt. On the gas tank where the fill neck is connected to it, the seam is cracked and leaks gas. I have tried to have the tank repaired but with no success. I have contacted GM and visited a Chevy dealership about this concern and they want me to pay $1,300 + plus change the tank. This vehicle has not been damaged in a wreck. This is simply a defective part that causes a huge safety concern for me. I have read of other Trailblazer gas tanks cracking at the same location that resulted in a campaign to replace them. I think that GM should replace these tanks that crack before they result in a fire and cause damage or injury. GM and the dealership have demonstrated no concern for my safety and that of my family. I feel that this safety issue should eb dealt with by the manufacturer. Thank you for your time.

Speedometer and fuel gage completely stopped working. Researched the internet and lots of people have complained of this very issue, but no recall has been made. This is a safety hazard and to fix this problem our dealership said it would cost anywhere at the least $500. This really upsets me as we cannot afford to fix this for that amount of money.

A small crack or fracture has developed in the fuel tank filler neck. This will cause the check engine light to come on and may cause the TB to idle poorly when cold. There is a smell of gasoline.

I purchased a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. Everytime I fill the tank I have a strong order of gas. I took my vehicle to the dealership today and they told me that I have a leak in my gas tank and that I need a new gas tank. I searched and found that there are alot of complaints regarding this same issue with other trail Blazer owners. I would like for GM to compensate or pay for the repairs that I had no idea about. I would not have purchased the vehicle if I knew that it had a complaint of this magnitude. This is a costly repair. Even at the price of gas - I do not have money to waste purchasing it for it to just leak out my vehicle. I am also required to take the vehicle through emissions but can not until the "service engine soon" light goes off. It won't go off until the gas tank is fixed. My license iis in jeopardy because or state (Illinois) requires that this is done within a certain time period. I have already received 1 ticket for this because my plates can not be renewed as well until the emissions has passed.

I have 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. I am receiving a "service engine soon" error. I took my vehicle to a Chevrolet dealer and it was determined I had a crack in my fuel tank, P0442. I have did some research and discovered other people was having the same problem. The only the solution to the problem is to have the fuel tank replace. I have owned several vehicles and this is the first vehicle that I need the fuel tank replaced. I am very afraid for the safety of my family along with other family. This issue must be addressed to prevent any fatalities and I think GM should take ownership of the problem.

I have taken very good care of my SUV. I bought it brand new and have never taken it off road. The service light came on and I took it to the dealer asap. They did a thorough check and found out my gas tank has a leak. The mechanic said there is nothing I could do except purchase a brand new fuel tank. He had also seen this problem before and that there was no recall on this.

I stated to smell gas on my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. About a week later it started leaking gas. I am stationed @ ft. Campbell and my mother living in pa had received a letter stating that there was a recall on 2004 Trailblazers due to corrosion dealing with the gas tank assembly area. I took my SUV to a Chevy dealer named james corlew Chevrolet in tenn. They informed me that they had not heard of the recall and that it was going to cost me $2645 to fix it. They informed me that the problem was due to a large number of items dealing with the gas tank area assembly rusting and corroding. With me being in the military I need to travel alot to complete various training school. I was informed by my chain of command to report this to the government and if no response to contact my jag department due to the fact that this is a severe safety problem I wont be able to bring my vehicle on to post.
