The interior vents stopped working and would only go to 3 max on the dial. That was 1000 dollars to repair. The RPM gauge went out next, now the speedometer stopped working and the battery doesn't hold a charge. I have had this car for two years and it is beginning to cost a lot for repairs. I had to buy a battery and am repairing the gauges at $600. These are all new parts. I feel at this point someone needs to look into this complaint. Most people aren't repairing the speedometer because it is so costly, but I think this is a hazard. Check out this website for more complaints: www.carcomplaints.com/Chevrolet/Trailblazer/2004/electrical/gauges_fluctuate.shtml we are all having the same problems and no one is doing anything about it.

The speedometer does not work accurately. It is sometimes about 30 miles off but it has wound all the way around. I can only tell my speed by the flow of traffic. The battery gage also does not work, it always shows no charge.

I own a 2004 Trailblazer with 53,915 miles. In November 08, my speedometer, tachometer & oil gauges started working only about 5% of the time. I could disconnect the battery to get them to start working again but after 2 weeks of doing that both the speedometer and the tachometer quite working and point straight down to the floor board. The oil gauge works when it wants. I have done a lot of research on the internet and was shocked to see all the same complaints and GM not doing a thing to help out their customers. I hope GM will man up to their problems and place a recall on these vehicles.

In August 2008 my speedometer started to malfunction. It would not work for a few days and then go back to normal. By October it quit working at all. My service engine light also stays on. I have also experienced some power surges that seem to affect the lighting system. I also had to problem commented on by several people with the low beam lights going out. I checked all the fuses and they were in working order. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they said the bulbs were blown and replaced them. I questioned that statement somewhat because I had replace one of the bulbs not a month earlier. The lights have worked fine since except for power surges.

I have owned my Trailblazer for about 1 1/2 years. In the last year my gauges are not working. I don't know how fast I am going, I don't know if it over heats because it is stuck in the hot, I don't know if my oil pressure is to high and if my motor will blow up. It only has 66,800 miles on it. From what I heard GM says it is not their problem, but yet they issued recalls for dash clusters for other models for the same exact reason. I can not afford to have it fixed, it is a defect that GM should own up to. It is also a safety issue if the gauges don't work for me to know that something is wrong and leaves me and my family setting in the middle of nowhere. Plus I can't even trade and get the value out of it because of this problem. All in all somebody needs to step up and force GM to fix this problem that they made.

The speedometer in my 04 Trailblazer started acting crazy. One minute it was reading fine, then said I was going 100 mph. I have talked with the dealership, but all they have to say is that they are aware of the problem, but no recalls yet. I have tried contacting GM on this problem but seem to get no where. The service guy at the dealership said they would fix it, but I would have to pay the hefty 500-600 bill. With all the complaints that are out there, I feel that GM should do something about this. Why are they being lazy? someone could really get hurt, or even get ticketed for not knowing how fast they are going. I have been driving my truck like this since March 08.

I purchased a used 2004 Chevy Trailblazer in February 08. It only had 23,000 miles on it. With in the first 2 weeks I had it my gauges started going crazy. They were jumping around all over the place. I took it back to the dealer to have it fixed and they tried to charge me. Fortunately I must have complained enough and to the right person because it was replaced at no charge to my self. I now am having major problems with it stalling and trying to stall. After searching the internet I see that I am not alone there are hundreds of complaints about this problem. Everyday upon start up it idles very rough and it tries to stall for a good 10 minutes. If I don't let it sit and idle before I drive it tends to stall. My check engine light will flicker at least once a day and every few days my reduced engine power light will flicker. I do not feel safe anymore. What if I am traveling and my car stalls and I lose control and from reading the other complaints I am at risk for my air bags not deploying. If it is a problem with the PCM, I don't have the money to fix it!!!!! why should I have too" I see that I am not alone with this problem. Why is their nothing being done about it? why should us as consumer already paying enough for these vehicles be responsible for their mistakes"

Last week my wife indicated that when she was driving, the speedometer in our 2004 Trailblazer was showing she was going 100 mph when in fact she was not. I took the vehicle into the dealership and they said that GM is aware of the problem and fixing it on some models but will not cover the $500 - $700 cost on my model. I contacted GM yesterday and am awaiting a response. It has to do with the instrument cluster and the problem is still continuing. I call on the NHTSA to exert pressure on GM before someone is killed as the result of this faulty part that GM is aware of.

All lights, and bells went off on instrument panel. Started with the check 4-wheel drive, then all other lights starting flashing on and off. The gauges kept going down to nothing. Have had it in to the shop 5 times so far. Isn't this under the lemon law? and it seems as though I have to look forward to my speedometer going out next. It only has 38,000 on it. I cant believe GM will not take responsibility for their mistake.

The instrument cluster in my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer functions erratically if at all. This behavior began a few weeks ago when the tach went crazy and eventually just quit, the needle now just sits at the bottom of the instrument and wiggles occasionally. The speedometer is erratic in that at times it will just quit and read O -10 mph when I know I am going a lot faster than that (freeway speeds). The cruise control is so unpredictable I don't dare use it anymore. It speeds up for no apparent reason and I am afraid I won't be able to turn it off. What can be done about these issues. All in all otherwise we like the vehicle but the problems with the instrument panel are making us think about getting rid of it.

I began having problems with speedometer and tachometer several years ago. The tac and speedometer go haywire and then go dead while driving down the road. I brought it in and was told that it was a faulty gauge cluster that needed to be replaced and that it was a problem already recalled in other GM vehicles. The service tech was able to unhook the battery cable and reset the gauges but they still aren't fixed. I have been reading multitudes of complaints of the same thing.

The RPM tach does not work on the 2004 Trailblazer. This is my wife's car and she takes really good care of it. We do not drive it hard. The driver side plastic bezel around the electronics is broke. I've had to replace the electronic board, apparently it was not detecting correctly and making the vehicle stall. Oh and when filling the gas tank make sure you run the pump by hand. If you allow the pump to fill the car you will over fill everytime. Causing gas to go on the side of the car.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the headlights and interior lights would dim intermittently. At times, the headlights are so dim that he can hardly see the road. The dealer was able to duplicate the failure, however, they were unable to provide a remedy. The contact was advised not to drive the vehicle at night. The current mileage was 29,000 and the failure mileage was unknown. Updated 02-01-08.
