2004 Chevy Trailblazer has significant electrical system issues. The tachometer is inconsistent and will read 1000 RPM when you know the engine is at least 3000. Also, similar problems with other gauges. Sometimes they work for a few days, and then don't. also, constantly needs jumped. Just got a new battery two weeks ago, and already won't turn over. Good connections and clean terminals, but for whatever reason the electrical system drained the battery. This has been non-stop! none of this covered by dealership!

The speedometer quit working on my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer about 9 months ago. Tach also has a tendency to stick. Transmission started going out 2 weeks after purchase (used in July 2008 with 42,000 miles). Transmission went completely out in November 2008.

Battery went dead after the car sat a week. Dealer replace the battery and said the instrument cluster checked fine. Next day voltmeter pegged past number, tach and speedometer stopped working. Now dealer says the instrument cluster needs replacing.

Started up truck to warm up after about 3 minutes heard bang and both front airbags had deployed for no reason. Prior to this had issue with intermittent dash board lights (battery, speed odometer, seatbelt and airbag lights) being on. GM refuses to cover because I did not take to "dealer". I took it to my local mechanic instead who could find no issue other than corroded grounds. Currently it is being repaired by my insurance company.

We have a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. All gauges but the tachometer completely stop working. They will work in the morning, but when I leave work they stop working. This has started happening more and more frequently. I have to rely on my tachometer on how fast I am going. I don't know when that will stop working. This is not safe and also I have read many reports from other Trailblazer owners that have had the same problem. I think there should be a recall on these gauges.

Dashboard speedometer and other meters do not work. Every once and awhile the dials will come on, but most of the time they do not work. Nothing has been done to correct the problem because service department states its not under warranty and will charge over $400 dollars to fix problem.

I own a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer which started giving me problems almost as soon as the warranty was over. Most of the gauges (speedometer, tachometer, battery indicator, etc...) in the instrument panel are not functioning or function only sporadically and erratically. Also the air bag light stays on continuously. I have been reading online that this is a fairly common problem on this vehicle and that GM even sued (and won) the instrument panel manufacturer. However no recall has been issued on Trailblazers, meanwhile other GM vehicles (I.e. Chevy Silverado) that uses the same instrument panel and thereby has the same problems have been recalled. General Motors should not be allowed to exhibit this kind of behavior and a recall should be issued to every vehicle they built which used this faulty and failure prone instrument panel. Sincerely, outraged Trailblazer owner.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the instrument panel gauges failed without warning and displayed inaccurate readings. The dealer stated that the entire panel needed to be replaced. He is in the process of having the vehicle repaired. The failure and current mileages were 80,000.

I have noticed my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer is having issues with the tachometer. It is sticking at around 4000 RPM and won't reset to 0. this seems to be a very common complaint from what I can find. I'm afraid that this problem could spread into other gauges which would be a serious safety issue.

My 2004 Trailblazer speedometer keeps going out. I have had it reset several times and within a few days it is back to the needle pointing at 100 while in park. This problem started while I was driving the vehicle. I noticed it when I realized that I was the slowest person on the interstate. It is May 2009 and it is now a bigger problem than ever. I would have to replace the instrument cluster at $800 to repair this and then it may work for a little while but, all my research indicates that it won't fix the problem.

Driving on dry pavement, clear day. Took freeway offramp, when I reached 40mph, the brakes locked up, went past stop sign into other highway missing other vehicle passing in front of offramp. Happened twice at same speed, brakes lock up, and I pass through the stop sign. Loud grinding noise coming from wheel well area, brakes recently changed about 3 months ago, noise occurs at 25-30 mph, sounds like dragging something underneath. Service man checked, nothing visible. Has occurred 5 times in less than 2 months. Interior lights dim on vehicle then brighten constantly. Door ajar light constantly coming on, back hatch window constantly opening on own driving down road. Instrument panel knobs, panel itself and window and door buttons on doors extremely hot to touch. Various lights on instrument panel quit working and then resume on their own. Reported tach/odometer not working already. Both units registering offline while driving. Where are the fixes to these problems?

I purchased a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer in August of 2004. Over two years ago my speedometer started to fluctuate showing I was going 10 miles an hour while I was in the fast lane on the freeway going at least 65. After months of fluctuating it stopped working. I now have 84,000 miles on my car. I am guessing the speedometer it went out around 65,000. I do not feel that a car that is only 5 years old should have a speedometer that won't work anymore. I found that there are many people out there that have the same problem with other models besides the Trailblazer. I called my local GM dealer and they advised that there is no recall on this issue. I cannot afford to have this fixed. This is a safety issue that GM should be responsible for fixing.

I also have a 2004 Trailblazer that the gauges stopped working. It started out with miss-reading the speed, as in reading higher than the actual speed. Like going 120 mph when really going 25 mph. Now it is currently stuck with the needle pointing straight at neutral. Then just last week. My low fuel light came on. The next time I started the truck it was up to 1/2 a tank and as I drove it went to 3/4 then 10 miles later it slowly dropped back to 1/4 then the light came on again and then back to a 1/4 of tank. This is an on going problem with these trucks. I know 3 other people with Trailblazers and 2 of them are having the same problem. The dealership told me it would run about $850 to fix and needless to say it has not been. They are off their brains. This needs to be a recall.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the speedometer stopped working and registers 65 mph while the vehicle is parked. The failure prevents him from knowing how fast he is traveling. The dealer has not been notified. When the contact bought the vehicle, the spare tire wrench under the rear bumper was stripped so that it could not be lowered. He had a mechanic examine the spare tire wrench and was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer. The current mileage was 66,000 and failure mileage was 62,000.
