CarComplaints.com Notes: Carrying the not-so-proud traditions of its 2002 predecessor, the 2003 has a handful of instrument panel malfunctions that can leave you guessing your speed, engine temperature or how much gas is left in the tank.

After putting the drivers window down at a fast food drive thru it would not go back up. This was in January, very cold in Michigan. Dealer said moisture must have gotten into switch and the whole module had to be replaced. I asked if that means the doors can't be opened when it was raining, he said yes they can but for some reason GM has a lot of drivers door window switches going bad on the Trailblazers. The cost to have it replaced was $430 which we paid seeing how only the dealer can program the new switch. It's now one year later and the same switch has gone bad again, I called the dealer but were over the 12,000 mile warranty. It will cost another $430 to replace again.

(1) I purchased my vehicle (2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer 4WD) in may of 2003. I have taken my car to be fixed on a couple of occasions. Namely recalls. Around August of 2005, my rear driver side window ceased functioning. The rear windows of my car have been the least used and for the forementioned window to cease functioning seamed odd. (2) because of the failure of the rear driver side window, I have to prop the window in place to prevent rain from coming in and ruining my vehicle interior. (3) nothing has been done to correct this failure. I have taken my car by the local Chevrolet dealership, but they wish to charge my around $250 to fix the problem. I am capable of fixing the problem myself for just under $100. Vehicle is no longer covered under warranty because at the time (which was under the 3 year warranty date) I had exceeded the 36,000 mile mark by about 4-5K miles. As a side note, I have spoken with a couple of other Trailblazer owners and others have had this same problem. If you are not familiar with the window regulator, its design allows for the pulley chords that connect to the top and bottom of the window to get caught with in the regulator. When this happens, too much stress and strain is put on the plastic regulator and a break will occur.

2003 Chevrolet trail Blazer lt. Window cable assembly- living in Florida, I have opened with windows maybe 25 times since the purchase of the vehicle. The cable jumped the guide track in the door and window failed to go up. Mileage warranty expired 7000 miles ago. Dealer states over $400 to replace the window cable assembly. Mechanics state it is a terrible design.

Since I bought this vehicle August 30, 2002 I have had to bring it back to the dealership on numerous occasions for several different items. I have had both the left and right brake lights gone out, the driver side head lamp went out, the air conditioner has gone out twice(four months apart), the driver side passenger window is inoperable(we have tried to get it fixed for almost a month now with no success) and the engine cooling fan was warped and the fan clutch malfunctioned. At this point we don't understand why they haven't just recalled the whole vehicle. Luckily we have the 36,000 mile warranty still in affect but what's going to happen when it is up and the same problems keep recurring?
