CarComplaints.com Notes: The Trailblazer emerged from an "upscale trim line" of the Blazer, but there's nothing upscale about its transmission problems or its wonky, unpredictable headlights.

2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Numerous problems associated with car. Windows don't come down, doors don't unlock, and other issues. The consumer stated when he turned the key in the ignition, the windows would not roll down, unless it was done manually. There was a locking and unlocking sound coming from the doors. The consumer was informed there was an issue with the wiring inside the doors. Also, the check engine light illuminated due to a small evap leak and after market fuel cap. The windshield wipers were inoperative, the instrument panel lights were flicking on and off, the inside dome light would not come on. Updated 04/13/15. Updated 07/20/15.
In Aug. Of this year I was driving with my friend in the back seat when I made a turn the left rear door opened. I pulled over to close it, door would not latch. About one year ago same problem. Paid dealer to fix same latch. Oct 2005 GM recalled only ext. Versions of 2002 Trailblazer. I have a reg. Trailblazer. Door cannot be used because it will not latch closed.
The front door controls are inoperable!! no windows, no locks, can't use my remote lock and alarm. The part is $200 and only available at a dealership. I tried to get one from a junk yard, and was told they have no Trailblazer doors because of this very problem. I also called several dealerships in the area, and they are fully aware of this problem also, and don't understand why it hasn't been recalled. Everyone wants to diagnose the problem, and I cannot afford the many hours they want to spend on my 2002 vehicle. I have already had to replace the front wheel bearings (at $400 each just for parts), which I should not have had to do yet!!! if the dealerships and junkyards are aware of my door problem, why aren't you? not being able to roll down my windows or use my alarm are definitely issues in my book!!!
While attempting to change from the outside (slow) lane on interstate 35 a speeding car attempted to pass me. I swerved back into my lane, note; this was not a severe steering maneuver. The 2002 Trailblazer immediately rocked and went into a roll. The vehicle was totaled by the insurance carrier. 1. none of the air bags deployed, front nor side. 2. the locked drivers side door opened up on impact. 3. the SUV roll occurred with out severe over steering.

Passenger side door handle and lock failed to open or lock on their own. Consumer was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the door handle and locks were a manufacturing design flaw, and the manufacturer was aware that this was a problem but has no solution. Mechanic replaced door handle and locks, but problem recurred.
Doors rattled and physically moved up and down when driving over bumps in the roadway. A/C does not cool properly after stopping and starting again. Wind noise around driver and passenger front windows. Front windshield molding came loose while driving.
Dont know where to start. Squeaking noise when going over bumps (sounds like it is coming from suspension). Metal grinding noise in brakes, ticking noise from engine, seat belt and airbag lights have come on for no reason, rear latch has come open while driving, tail lights and brake lights burning out freqently, transmission was slipping on take off, no cause found in the several times it has been taken in for this. Now my transmission is out. Just happened yesturday. Don't feel like I can blame the dealership after reading all the complaints. I think the fault lies on the shoulders of GM.
