Rear brakes became inoperative. The left rear axle seal was found to be leaking transaxle fluid and contaminating the left rear brake shoes. Brake failure could have resulted in accident, injury and possible death. Local service garage replaced left axle seals and bearings. Replacement was not covered under warranty.
Brakes are not working properly, when trying to brake vehicle takes a little longer to slow down. Contacted dealer, and the dealer was not willing to do anything.
While driving, vehicle ran into the back of another vehicle at 40 mph due to ABS anti- lock brakes locking up. Also, seat belt did not lock, and airbags did not deploy, one person was injured in the accident.
When brakes waere applied pedal was normal, but there was extended stopping distance. Dealer has inspected vehicle, and could not duplicate or correct problem. Please provide additional information.
