The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe hybrid. While driving approximately 25 mph, the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. Suddenly, there was no response when the brake pedal was depressed. The driver experienced extreme difficulty stopping the vehicle and had to slam on the brakes. The vehicle was able to slow down upon reaching its destination. The "on star" device was engaged and recommended that the engine be turned off and restarted. Immediately, the computer system reset itself; however, the failure recurred the following day. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the power assist failed. The technician reprogrammed the computerized system and replaced different control modules. In addition, while driving over 35 mph, the vehicle lurched forward unexpectedly. The failure mileage was 5,000 and current mileage was 5,500.
