So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
1.) The wire harness between the body control modules are failing. 2.) When I tow my boat I could loose braking at any time. Display of " service trailer brake system" overrides all other displays on console. Repetitive chiming noise is very distracting and irritating. 3.) Yes, I took it back in soon after i purchased it (a lot of money) and the Chevy rep said it probably was something to do with loose wires concerning the towing. I showed them a picture of the the warning display that I took immediately. They supposedly plugged in a diagnostic reader and said that since the code was no longer showing that they were unable to determine what precisely the issue was, but it was safe to drive. 4.) Component was not inspected by anyone. I was told that if it came on and I was in the area; to bring it in so that they can see the display. 5.) Yes there was a warning message that showed up multiple times. 1 or 2 weeks after being purchased on 3/11/22. I feel that the Chevy reps know of the issue ( bad wiring harness between 2 of the body control modules) and acted as if the had no clue of the picture of the warning display that I showed them and they were able to tell me it was safe to drive even though they said they didn't know what the issue was. "??" I like Chevy vehicles; it would be nice to see Chevy stand behind their product. This is the 2nd Tahoe that I've owned, standing behind your work keeps and promotes customers.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the paint on the engine hood was peeling off. The vehicle was taken to local dealer camino real Chevrolet (2401 S atlantic blvd, monterey park, ca 91754 (323) 264-3050) where it was not diagnosed. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
I pulled into my driveway... the engine speed started increasing and simultaneously the brake pedal sunk into the floor and braking abilitywas lost. This happened about 4 feet from my garage door and this caused my truck into the garage door. I have a driveway video of me on the phone and then the car being accelerated through the garage door.
Having issues with braking. Occasionally at high speeds, but more often during lower speeds. The brake pedal becomes very hard to depress and meanwhile the vehicle is still moving, not allowing you to stop. Happens also going in reverse. Had a collision, hit the rear end of another vehicle yesterday morning during rush hour, 3/18/2019. I was slowing down to 15 mph, due to a red light, but brake pedal would not brake, becoming very stiff, making it impossible to brake, and stopped due to the collision. Luckily no one was hurt. Front body severe damage to my Tahoe. Police report has been filed. We bought this Tahoe in fall of 2017, and February 2017, took into the dealership due to the braking issues, nothing was found or done to the brake system. Tahoe is back at dealership as of today, and nothing has been found, according to Chevy techs
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the front driver's side seat belt severely cut into the contact's body. The seat belt became significantly worn to the point of a potential fracture with the seat belt webbing. Furthermore, the contact stated that the trimming on the front driver and passenger sides became detached from the vehicle's exterior. The trimming created a whistling noise and blew in the wind while driving various speeds. The contact rolled down the driver's window and had to hold the exterior trimming to the body of the vehicle to keep it from detaching from the vehicle completely and striking other motorists. Jupiter Chevrolet (11611 I-635, garland, Texas 75041, (972) 271-9900) was made aware of the failure and took the vehicle in for service. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall on the seat belt or the driver's and passenger's side trimming failure. The manufacturer provided the contact with case number: 8-484-580-7149. The failure mileage was 72,000.
I live in a fairly arid climate, where rain doesn't occur frequently. A couple of months ago, after my Tahoe had been sitting in the rain, I noticed water dripping from the inside door pillar when I opened the door. I just assumed it was water than came in from the outside when I opened the door. Then about nine days ago, while driving in the rain, water began dripping from the top center console area, in a steady stream. When I took it into the Chevrolet dealer they said that the seal on the hi-frequency antennae (shark fin antennae), over the driver's side was faulty, and that water was leaking in through it. Since there was not a recall for my VIN, and since rain was predicted to continue for several days, I had no choice but to pay $452.32 to have a new antennae installed. The service department did what they could to dry the area out in between the roof and the ceiling and left the cover off the side driver's airbag so it would dry, telling me to return in a week so they could replace the cover on the airbag. In addition to being out a lot of money, I am concerned about the side airbag possibly malfunctioning after being wet over a period of time.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that water entered the vehicle through the roof of the vehicle, and various electrical components malfunctioned after inclement weather. The failures occurred without warning. Richard kay superstore (1935 pearman daily rd, anderson, SC) diagnosed that the antenna assembly and housing were defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 36,611.
I was driving down the highway at about 70 mph and my wife looked in the passenger side mirror and saw the applique on the passenger side door behind the window (where the B pillar is) was loose and flapping in the wind. I had some tape in the vehicle so I pulled to the side, taped it down, and continued driving. I took the vehicle into the Chevrolet dealer the next day and they said it is a common problem with the Tahoe. The dealer said the design of the applique attachment was poorly done and when they replace them they now use a stronger attachment. The dealer found 2 other appliques loose and recommended replacing them as well before they flew off while driving and possibly causing a safety issue to someone behind my Tahoe.
The exterior side panel that separate front and back of Tahoe threatens to fly off during driving. It's primarily on highway driving from 50+ miles per hour. It's as if wind is getting under them and its always a concern they are going to fly off. We often are stopping and hitting it back in place. If it come off it will be a $130-180 piece each side and cosmetically ugly for our vehicle and a danger to other motor vehicles as a flying object. Please recall this as we are hearing from dealerships it is a common part coming off of the Tahoe. It is a common occurrence. It didn't happen just once.
The liftgate malfunction is both bizarre and dangerous. When opened it proceeds to drop about a foot quickly, enough to create serious head contact. It then proceeds to close without use of sensors, repeatedly pinning the operator against the back of the car. Only with strength and agility did my wife manage to slide out the side. We are thankful that the only damage was a bruise on her leg. It could have been much worse for an older, less agile person. It happens when vehicle is stationary, on or off. The dealer plans to replace the liftgate actuator, but it will be at our expense. Chevy has declined coverage because we are not the original owner, we did not buy it from a Chevy dealer and we did not purchase extended warranty coverage. There is no recall outstanding so they have no obligation to help us. Had my wife gone to a doctor for the bruise on her leg Chevy's decision would have gone to a different supervisor, but we do not act that way. We are just grateful that she had the wherewithal to escape from a very dangerous situation. I have a video of the problem, but it is not in a format (imov) that can be uploaded here. I will hold on to it.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the liftgate sensor became inoperable whenever the sensor was touched. On several occasions, the liftgate independently opened or closed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the foot sensor could not be deactivated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The contact wanted the sensor deactivated. The failure mileage was approximately 4,400.
Bad vibration at speeds between 60 to 75 mph ( GM dealer has had car 3 times and replaced tires, road forced balanced, checked alignment with no success ) ; wind noise and buffeting inside car with all windows in the up position at speeds from 35 mph and up causing dizziness and nausea on longer rides. Exterior door plastic fascia becomes loose and falls off due to metal clip breaking off at the attachment point.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. When the vehicle was pulled to a curb, the plastic wind deflector was placed too low (approximately eight inches from the pavement), making it difficult to pull away from the curb without pulling out the front fender. The failure recurred and the front fender was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 12,702. The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact indicated that the top portion of the cargo window was unleveled and the glass was not secured and could potentially fracture. The passenger side of the cargo window was higher than the driver side and there was an exposed gap. The sun roof also leaked intermittently. The cargo door was welded poorly by the dealer and the trim on the door was deteriorating. The contact also stated that the paint was damaged on the hood and the paint was bubbling near the hinge on the front driver side. The dealer repaired the sun roof, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000.
