Purchased this Tahoe November 30, 2021, it has been garage kept by previous owner. Within 3 months noticed the discoloration at the top of the windshield and it creeped to the back of the roof. Our cars are always hand washed and waxed regularly! so the paint was clearly defective. We have a 2011 black Silverado with better paint and shine. There are multiple places that the paint is defective throughout this Tahoe.
We noticed the hood looking strange. I took it to the dealer so they could deny it was a paint issue and offer a $1300 estimate to paint the hood with only a one year warranty. We found a local body shop that repainted the hood for $400 with a lifetime warranty. The owner of the shop even contacted us a couple times to make sure we were happy. Chevrolet could learn from this guy!
Now, with only 92,000 miles on it, our truck needs the roof repainted. I contact Chevrolet and they tell me to go to the dealer. What so I can wait another hour for them to deny coverage and give me a ridiculous estimate to repaint? No thank you. I going back to same local body shop and having it painted correctly. This is our third Tahoe but the only one with paint issues. Apparently, Chevrolet knows this is an issue.
The paint on my hood and roof has started fading, cracking, spidering and likely end up peeling. This is despite ongoing standard car, washing, wax etc. Per body shop evaluation, this is a GM issue with how the paint was applied during manufacturing and the entire hood and top of my car will need to be completely repainted to the tune of $2K plus. Contacted GM to inquire and got nowhere except them asking me to take it to a dealer for further evaluation even though they confirmed it was a covered issue either way. I asked to file a complaint or grievance and got a mailing address given to me.

The paint looks awful, horrible, and an eye sore. The paint looks like it was scraped or sanded in circles and up and down. The hood and the top of the vehicle looks terrible. I talked to Chuck Fairbanks Jeff and the Manager and they want me to pay $1900.00 for getting a new paint job. I have seen so many people complain about this and nothing has been done. I want my vehicle painted with no cost out of pocket to me. I love my Tahoe and it is a shame that the sides and back of the vehicle is not looking so horrible.
This vehicle is three years old and the clear coat on the hood and roof has completely oxidized. Chevrolet refuses to assist with repairs. They no longer answer my emails. The Chevrolet body shop that I took it to said that the clear coat will continue to break down if not fixed. There are several other complaints online of this same issue with GM and Chevrolet vehicles around this year and in the darker gray and black colors. Professional body shops have stated to these owners that the paint is clearly defective. May I might also add that this same vehicle had a brake failure which was recalled and had to be in the shop for several weeks while I waited patiently for them to fix this quality control issue. Yet now, they will not take the time to address this other quality control issue which is 100% the manufacturer's fault.
2015 Tahoe, black paint. I noticed paint fading took to our local Chevy auto body / paint shop. The issue was on hood and 2 front side panels. Said clear coat had worn off. We've owned 4 other black Chevrolet vehicles and this is the first time I experienced this problem. Extremely disappointed this happened. Body shop did a fantastic job and it's good as new.
I have had several problems with my 2015 Tahoe; trim behind both windows flapping in the breeze due to broken molded bracket, top right-hand luggage rack rail flapping in breeze due to broken thin sheet metal bracket breakage, failure of low pressure air conditioner coolant hose. It took 7 times before Chevy dealer looked in parts book and saw a needed upgrade of an added hose support bracket. Dealer took scatter gun approach by changing out AC compressor, condenser and low pressure line and driver-side front seat right hand screw loose on inside of back support portion of seat.
The coups de gras, which was the final straw is when the top coat on the hood and top of Tahoe started to fade/grey and crack on the black undercoat. To fix the top coat, the dealership wanted $2300.00; of which they were going to pick up 10% of after my pushing for warranty. The Tahoe is 3 years old. The paint should last well into a decade, and I kept the car washed weekly and detailed every 6 months. This expense after all the cost for the AC repairs and replacement cost for several external brackets and trim that broke within 3 years.
I had 3 Tahoe's prier to this 2015, and I had little issue with any of them. I had my 2007 for 8 years and had no problems with paint, AC, external brackets and trim of the seats. My only problems were early battery failures and 2 cracked dashes. The battery problem turned out to be a problem with the starter cable, which was rubbed bare and causing and intermittent dead short to ground frying a cell on each failed battery. Everyone I know having the 2007 Tahoe has experienced one or more cracks in their 2007 Tahoe dash; right at the inside upper corner of the passenger's airbag compartment at the top of the dash.
