Purchased my car from a Chevrolet dealer in 2011, one year after it was made. SUV had just over 36,000 miles and I assumed I was the second owner. I've driven the car for 6 years without problems. I've gotten scheduled maintenance and oil changes. Then on April 3 I noticed white smoke coming out of the exhaust when I started the SUV. It struck me as odd, as it was chilly outside, but not cold enough for white smoke. It happened a few more times and we took it into a shop. Since I'm past my warranty, I didn't take it to the dealer. After a day in the shop, it was diagnosed as cracked head gasket. I've never driven this car out of control, without oil, it's never overheated...nothing! So I didn't believe them and got a second estimate. Three days later on the way to a new shop, my engine light comes on! Never has this happened before!!
The second shop confirms my engine is bad and it needs to be replaced. They suggested the previous owner could have not taken care of the car until I explained the mileage and how long I've had the car. Then they suggested it possibly being a lemon and restored from a flood and resold, could have had the engine changed out of it too. Nevertheless, I'm quite ticked a 2010 Tahoe with less than 150k miles needs a new engine. Chevy is supposed to make good cars and I own two...for now. Would hate to get rid of my nice Tahoe, because this darn engine didn't last longer than my floor mats.
