I have been waiting to have my airbags replaced for over 3 to 4 years now. The airbags are extremely a safety hazard due to the fact that they can deploy at any given time. I have a grand child that I Transport and I am scored for her safety in that vehicle. This is sad how long this has been unremedied. Please help!
My current 2008 Chevrolet hybrid Tahoe, VIN# [xxx] has airbags included in the takata airbag recall, manufacturer recall number 2049152, NHTSA recall number16V383. The NHTSA has deemed these airbags have caused 16 deaths, and hundreds of serious injuries. GM/Chevrolet has stated the airbags are "safe" despite the NHTSA recall. I have contacted the NHTSA and they stated that the airbags in my vehicle need to be replaced, and in the interim until they are replaced no one should be allowed to ride in the front passenger seat of the vehicle due to potential risk of death from the airbag exploding without reason. This is an absolutely absurd, belligerent and unacceptable business practice GM is being allowed to engage in. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The dealer says they do not have the parts to replace the recalled air bags and do not know when they will get them. Yesterday the computer flashed a warning to check air bag.

The GM dealership will not replace my airbag (GM recall49151) GM customer service tells me that NHTSA has not determined that there is a safety issue with GM vehicles. My recall letter is date 2016 and nothing has been repaired. Why is the NHTSA taking so long to resolve this issue with GM? my non GM airbags have already been replaced.
Airbags have not been fixed due to parts not available it's been 3 yrs since! every time I call the dealer I get the same well we don't have any parts. You should be fine...because of that I haven't felt safe for my kids to be in a vehicle I love and paid so much for! so now it's just sitting or used by my husband but we have to be careful.

I am very frustrated that the following has not been resolved yet! I received notice in July of 2016 for the following: Manufacturer recall number2049152 NHTSA recall number16V383 to date this is the status: Recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available why has this taken so long? I purchased this vehicle due to the great testing qualities but very disappointed this is the quality I receive back from the manufacturers. Please let me know what the hold up is on this and a tentative time it will be taken care of. Thank you!
"takata recall" the service airbag light is on in my 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe and when I called a GM dealership they said there isn't anything that they can do about it because the remedy is not yet available. However my vehicle wont pass inspection until the light is off and airbags are fixed. I received my letter from GM about this recall in 2016 and it stated that they wouldn't fix it unless the light came on and now that the service light is on I feel unsafe to drive it and worry about inspection when it comes due.
