We are the second owner but came with service records. Serviced above average even with us. Loud tapping noise started and lost power soon after that. Towed to garage and was told #4 cylinder had collapsed lifter. At 101,000 mi. was told rebuilt engine best deal because of labor involved to fix. This is a know defect to GM.

Engine ran rough and had to be towed to dealership. Gave no previous indication of impeding failure as worn lifters usually would do like knocking. Dealer had serviced vehicle recently and was under an extended warranty policy. No explanations were given for the camshaft and lifters that needed to be replaced?
