This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Heavy gasoline fumes after vehicle driven a short distance. Fumes apparent at stops, sometimes while driving and parked. No trace of fumes or incipient leakage underhood, however there is weepage on the upper-inboard area of the tank itself. A very definite safety hazard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The complete fuel system rotted out from under the vehicle almost causing a fire. The fuel tank, fuel pump module, lock ring, fuel lines all had to be replaced and had to do a fuel spill clean up. Luckily, I caught the fuel spill before the Cadillac converter warmed up. My mechanic advised me to file a complaint with you because this should have never happened and feels GM should issue a recall due to a safety reasons.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed. The fuel tank was full however the fuel gauge read half tank and the following day fuel gauge read empty. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 96,300.
This is the second incident. Was driving at 45 mph and made a turn. The Tahoe loss power and stalled. The computer read reduced engine power and stability trak off. This is bothersome being that this can happen anywhere at anytime. Afraid of possible accident or worse.
