The engine is making a knocking noise. I have had 4 different people check the engine out. All 4 have said that I will need a new engine and it will cost around $6000. While researching the motor I have found that this is common. There needs to be a recall on this engine. I have never owned anything but Chevrolet vehicles and this one has turned me against Chevy!
Ever since I have had this Tahoe I have had problems with it. In a little while everything on here will be new. I complained from the beginning that something was wrong with vehicle. They kept saying that it was my mind. GMAC needs to repair these 2007 tahoe's that a lot of people are having major problems with. This is so sad for the amount of money you pay for the vehicle.
At idle the engine runs at about 500 rpm which saves gas but sends vibrations through to the interior. This is hardly a problem but this engine is a lot rougher/louder than the 5.4l in the Expedition. This engine just feels poorly designed. Push rod engines are a thing of the 80s, not for a 2007 car.
It may be your oil pump? I have been complaining about a pinging noise since about 50,000 miles and have taken it to the dealer 3 times between 50,000 and 101,000. each time they told me they could not find anything wrong. Now I have 117,000 miles and my oil pressure gauge light went on. I took it to the dealer and they said I needed a new engine. I asked them ( Sierra Chevrolet in Monrovia, California ) if I could get copies of the work orders from when I brought it in. Very conveniently the only records they had was the 2 times I took the Tahoe in 2007. Nice cover up job, they told me that sales tickets must not have been generated. One of the times the Tahoe was there overnight and they still tell me there is no record of it being there. WOW! I took the Tahoe to my own mechanic yesterday and he said it needed an oil pump. Good Luck Tahoe owners. This is my third new Tahoe and this one is the only piece of .. I guess better luck next time. One thing I know is I will never take any vehicle I own to that crooked dealership.
i took my 07 Tahoe into the dealer for a rattle /pinging noise in the engine, they replaced the maf sensor and send me on my way the noise was still there but not that bad.I drove about 8k miles until the noise was to much to stand , i returned to the dealer they looked at it herd the noise but had no fix for it , they told mme to return in too days for the chevy rep to look at it , he got the info and returned to Detroit and im still driving mmy car with the noise
