This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
While driving vehicle with air conditioner on, extreme heat started to blow out of drivers side vents, while cold air continued to blow out of passenger side. This problem happens everytime the vehicle is in operation.
On date stated, our 2004 Chevy Tahoe VIN [xxx], left the roadway, became air borne, landed on its nose, deployed the air bags, and ended up upside down. According to onstar, they should have been notified when the air bags deployed, but the system failed and did not send notification. There were no life threatening injuries, but had this been at night, and the accident not witnessed by others who came to our aid. The outcome could have been entirely different. It is our desire that this situation be elevated to the proper level within GM, onstar, and specifically Chevrolet, so that the proper research can be done where the system will not fail in similar circumstances in the future. The system is designed to save lives, but if it does not work, is useless and much advertising to the contrary is very misleading. Thank you for your attention to this. [xxx] gb.
During a side impact/roll over motor vehicle accident, no automatic safety features deployed. Full side impact to the passenger side resulted in no airbag deployment. This vehicle was equipped at additional cost, side impact airbags. In contrary to national advertising the on-star feature was also a null response. This vehicle was a total lose and non-repairable.
Loud popping/pinging noises coming from exhaust system when car is in idle position or when car has been turned off. Dealership replaced muffler but problem started again about 3 weeks later. GM states it is a known problem, but there is currently not a fix for it. Says it is definitely the exhaust system.
