This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.

Consumer was driving approximately 65 mph when the tires tread came off. B.F. goodrich, radial, long trail T/a, P245/75R16. They replaced tire with a spare tire. About 10 miles down the road the same thing happened with the spare tire.
The second tire in four weeks had a tread seperation. The first was found at sears automotive when I took vehicle back due to tire vibration. They pro-rated the tire and replaced it. Four weeks later, another tire seperated at 70 mph on the interstate causing some body damage to the left rear of the vehicle. I now have a third tire vibrating at 35 mph and at 70 mph. This cannot be safe. I am meticulous about maintaining my tire pressrue at the manuf. Suggested pressure.
Initially experienced tread seperation during annual check in Oct 99. Replaced tire and put trailer in storage. In July when taking the trailer out of storage, the "new" tire tread just peeled off. I towed the unit to the trailer dealer, rv traders, for correction. The dealer upon further inspection noted that the remaing oem tires (3), with approx 10,000 miles, were also starting to seperate. I was about to go on vacation, so had to install (4) new tires (Goodyear). Rv traders in contact with the tire manufacturer agreed to re-imburse me at $50 per tire after I sent a letter to the manu describiong the circumstances. This I did on July 21, 2000. I have yet to hear from the manufacturer in chelsea, MA.( dot number: Cfkcmt2389 tire size: ST205/75R1 )
