This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Horn would sound while driving or when the vehicle is vibrated (example: Door is shut, hood popped open, adjustment of steering column). Had this problem 2 time previously, a GM authorized dealership look at situation and could not find a problem without going into a detail diagnostic. Pulling the fuse for the horn would not stop the horn for sounding. Finally had to pull the horn relay located in the fuse box under the hood to stop horn from sounding. Finally had a detailed diagnostic was performed and the only thing that the dealership could find was a problem with the airbag. Supposedly the airbag expands when it the area around it heats up, which in turn applies pressure on the horn ring, ergo the horn goes off even when the fuse was removed. Dealership could not find an electrical problem during their 2 hours of diagnotics. Recommended soultion replace airbag / horn ring $638 (parts only). Supposedly new airbag has a new design to prevent this from occurring again.
